Canyon had two big announcements to make at Eurobike: First, the consumer-direct German brand is planning to come to the USA, and is currently opening operations in Australia and New Zealand. Second, the Stitched 720 slopestyle bike is here!
Canyon built the full suspension Stitched 720 as an evolution of the Stitched hardtail frame. Both share similar geometry to make switching back and back forth easy, though the 720's wheelbase is a 25mm longer to deal with higher speeds typically seen on big slopestyle courses. Other geometry highlights include at 527mm top tube, 69-degree head angle, 397mm chainstay, and 430mm reach.
You've likely seen Thomas Genon, Anton Thelander, and Peter Henke on prototypes over the past year.
The bike uses a concentric bottom bracket to eliminate chain growth and make single-speed setup easier.
Horizontal dropouts are similar to those on the Stitched hardtail frame with an integrated chain tensioner and adjustable IS brake mount.
The single pivot design has 100mm of travel and a very progressive curve. It uses a firm shock tune to help absorb big impacts and stay firm off lips. Canyon says even the tube shapes have been designed to withstand bigger impacts.
The bike will initially only be offered in a size Medium. Parts include a RockShox Pike DJ fork, Monarch RT3 DebonAir shock, Truvativ Descendant cranks, and Avid Elixir DB 3 brakes. It weighs 26.7 pounds (12.1kg). Price TBD.
