Leatt recently opened a store in the heart of the Whistler Village, not far from the GLC. They showed us their 2017 line, which features two new helmets, a few new kits and new colors all around. They also showed us an all new glove, dubbed the Basic Glove, which is the only glove in their line that doesn’t feature Armourgel. Like Leatt’s other gloves, though, the Basic Glove does feature their NanoGrip palm, which is constructed with an ultra-thin, nano fiber material with threads that are 7,500 times thinner than a human hair. What this NanoGrip palm achieves is apparently a extremely durable area that actually grips better when wet.
What’s Armourgel? It’s a low-profile, injectable gel that absorbs energy. Leatt uses the product on a number of their protection pieces. Other highlights of the gel include it being temperature stable, with no impact performance losses between negative 20-degrees C and 40-degrees C, it’s easy to clean and it’s also self regenerative, meaning it can take multiple impacts to the same point and still be used.
Leatt also launched a couple new helmets, including the DBX 3.0 All Mountain helmets pictured above. Like their DBX 5.0 DH full face helmet, the new 3.0 features their 360-Degree Turbine technology, which is said to reduces up to 30% of head impact at concussion level, as well as reduces up to 40% of rotational acceleration to the head and brain.
Ascending the line, Leatt also introduced their all-new DBX 3.0 Enduro Helmet, which features a removable chin bar. In trail mode (without chin bar), the helmet is near identical to the 3.0 All Mountain helmet, with the only difference being the attachment points for the chin bar.
Like the 3.0 All Mountain helmet, the 3.0 Enduro features Leatt’s 360-Degree Turbine tech, Quattro Force Control (3D in-molded impact foam), and a breakaway visor with low friction cheek pads for emergency removal.
Leatt also had on display their new apparel items, which pictured left to right are the DBX 5.0, DBX 4.0, and DBX 3.0. The DBX 5.0 is Leatt’s bad weather kit, which features Windblock and dirt/water repellent coated chest, arms, sides and shorts. The back panel of the jersey is made of breathable, moisture wicking and quick dry rear panel. The DBX 4.0 kit features ultra-light, four-way stretch MoistureCool Wicking fabric with is meant to breath extremely well, and a super stretchy neck collar design which allows users to fit the bottom of their neck brace either inside the jersey or on top comfortably. Like the 4.0 and 5.0 kits, the DBX 3.0 also features that same neck collar design, as well as three-quarter length sleeves and MoistureCool wicking stretch mesh fabric.
The new All-Mountain and Enduro helmets will be available in February, while the new downhill helmets and all apparel being available sometime in late October.
