Deity's new vid featuring Joel Anderson ripping at light speed puts the typical old-or-injured-pro-going-sorta-fast-on-an-e-bike video out to pasture once and for all. Throw in some ST, a long rollback for a bike with gears and a random stair huck and it's game on.

Did he hack his turbo-kenevo? Based on the 'burnout' shot and him riding uphill without pedaling I guess he's hacked the walk/push assist button on that bike into a throttle. Also assuming he got rid of the speed limiter given some of the speeds he was pedaling at. It's the first thing I would do since pedaling once you hit the speed limit/engine cutoff sucks big time.

The thing that worries me about e-bikes is how easy it is to modify them into something that should definitely not mix with real bicycles...

Looks like some do that. I’ve heard from a few people. I noticed some went back to normal setting though. Drains the battery. Battery storage takes priority. There’s only so much or so it seems. Most of the trails I’m going faster than the cut off speed would be from gravity/downhill. Maybe mellow straighter trails or road to the trails. I can’t think of where I’d use the extra pedal assist. Might be our trails that make that unnecessary

Advocacy is uniting. Ebikes are comingand we’re stronger united. Common sense rules dealing with conflicts. They get people on bikes, they get us out more often, more Vert, and can be more fun. If there’s no conflict and advocacy grows and bike shops sell more bikes and repair more bikes what is the harm?

e-bikes rank just slightly above recumbents on the bikes you should ride list. FYI recombents are above tandems and tandems are above unicycles. You can't go any lower than a unicycle.

Lame......... If you're gonna ride an e-bike anywhere where MOTORcycles are allowed, cool, go for it (or just ride a real dirtbike?). E-bikes probably do have a place (and they are fun!)....... But, they're gonna F things up for all MTB'ers on any trails that are currently designated non-motorized, see heavy traffic from other users, etc., as well as limiting future access pretty much anywhere it is regulated (pretty much anywhere at all close to an urban setting). As MTB'ers, we shoulda self-policed this; almost all parks and rec folks don't know and don't care about the diff in e-bikes and reg MTBs--and especially won't in few years when batteries are super light and cheap enough that everyone will be on them and covering 300% more ground per ride, as well as allowing a bunch of idiots access that they normally wouldn't have had because it was too much work--the parks-folk will just deny access to ALL MTBs. Cool, vid, Vital.......wish you wouldn't pump this up. Limited access isn't going to help anyone in the sport, and, unfortunately, it looks like it's going in that direction. Kids: pedal your mountain bike. Then go buy a motocross (or trail) bike for your grip twisting fix! Both awesome, but two different sports for two diff places....

The riding is great no doubt.

I hate that eventually ebikes are going to divide the community. People who put in the time to build trail are not likely going to ride with a motor and won’t allow it either, Nor should they. But a divide is coming. Bikes don’t have motors.

Except that Ebikes are really awesome as a trail building and maintenance tool.

Maybe people will just learn to accept them because once people put some time in on ebikes they will realize that both non and assist bikes are good.

They sure aren't going away.

Yup, can confirm I get way more trail maintenance done with my E-bike: you get to ride so many more descents, so it isn't as frustrating "wasting" ride time on trail maintenance. And you can easily carry a bigger pack with more tools, further. These bikes are not just for lazy rich people, some of us just want to save time, get more done and drive a whole lot less...

The worst thing about this video was the guy riding up the DH track - don’t do that! (I’m sure the guys filming had closed the track off or something).

The divisions are probably gonna come from the non e-bikers me thinks.
