Pedro's Y Wrench

One of the most useful tools to have in your tool box is a good hex wrench. Imagine taking that good hex wrench and gluing it to 2 other hex wrenches in a trigonal planar shape. That’s exactly what the Pedro’s Y wrench is. I’ve owned mine for more than 5 years and this is what I have to say about it:

Out of the box:

The Pedro’s Y wrench is made of high quality heat-treated steel and is matched with a hard plastic handle in the middle. Comes with a 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm hex size, this wrench is designed to work on most bolts found on a frame and cockpit of a bike.

Function:

Many other companies make a Y style hex wrench but I do have to say, the ergonomic handle of the Pedro’s offers the best grip and less amount hand fatigue out of all the ones I have tried. 

After 5 years of use, some of the finish has faded a bit but this wrench has maintained its function very well. As for tolerance, the fit and precision award goes to Park Tool with their Y wrench but this one is a very close second. There just seems to be a little more wiggle room with the Pedro Y wrench. I haven’t stripped out a bolt yet with it which says a lot for 5 years of use but I feel it has caused a few bolt heads to become a little wobblier.

Bottom Line:

The Pedro’s Y wrench is a great tool to have in your box. The grip is top notch and don’t cause hand fatigue one bit for me. The finish has worn off a bit over the years but still performs well. If you want the best fitting Y wrench, I would probably go with Park Tool but Pedro’s is very close behind them in fit. I guess it’s a tradeoff for the ergonomic handle. If Pedro’s were to make the fit of the hex heads a little tighter, this would be a clear winner of the two. That being the case, I can confidently give this wrench a 4 star rating.
