Park Tool 3-Way Hex Wrench AWS-3

Out of all the tools a home mechanic, there aren’t many more commonly used than a good set of Allen wrenches. That being the case, I picked up the Park Tool AWS-3 Hex Wrench Set about 5 years ago and here are my impressions since:

Construction:

Park Tool designed the AWS-3 exceptionally well. They used high quality steel with covered with durable plastic that not only a great product but something that is comfy to hold in hand. The tolerance on the machining of this tool is top notch as well. The 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm sizes found on this tool are relatively small but after 5 years of use, I can gladly say I haven’t stripped out a single bolt with them. Such a claim is very impressive and speaks volumes for the tool.

Not indestructible however:

With all the good this tool offers, it’s important to know that it is not indestructible. As you can tell from the photo that the 2.5mm side has been twisted around a bit. Even though it looks a little funky, it hasn’t broken the metal or the plastic holder and works just as well as if it were brand new. Yeah I am bummed it bent but I’m still quite pleased with it’s performance.

Bottom Line:

Like I said before, a good set of allen wrenches is a must for any home mechanic. The AWS-3 is an excellent one to have on hand because of it’s craftsmanship as well as ease to use. It’s comfy in hand and was machined with great tolerance. I strongly recommend this product.
