I have had several friend rave about these grips, so I figured it was time to give them a shot. My go to grip is the ODI Rogue, so that might tell you that I am a fan of larger, softer grips.
The Ergons were bit firmer than I like, but I decided to give them a shot anyway. The shape is comfortable, but I wish the diameter of the grip was flipped. I would prefer the bulkier part of the grip to be on the inside and then tapering down toward the outside. I have about 15 hours on these grips thus far and they have not shown any wear.
This may be the grip for many others, but I think I will be switching to a softer grip. I may give their DH model a try once I can find a pair.
First of all, I can say that there's an "accident" when I bought this grips. But later, I can say that this is a "sweet accident" to have the grips. I before decided to get another popular grips out there, and when I went to my favorite bike shop, the grips are already out of stock. But finally I picked this, the Ergon GE1 grips.
After that, I just tested the grips in a 25 km riding on the same day. With mixed terrain such as road, trail, uphill and even light enduro, I can say that this is the most comfortable grips I've ever tried. On a long road, I almost feel no weary. On the trail and mixed terrain like the enduro track, the grips is very good. No slips, just strong grip and comfortable.
Ergon GE1 is also good looking grips. Thanks to the different rubber used, to make the grips very comfortable and looked nice. Different with another grips, the GE1 is using single bolt and that's good. The end cap is very stylish with the company logo. Overall, I like it very much. But, as this grips is new on my bike, I still waiting for the durability. Hope it goes well like its performance.
If you think that there are too much bikes out there using another popular grips, You-Know-What, and you want to be different, the Ergon GE1 is the best choice. Being different is good, guys!
