Rebadged DVO, but I would be intrigued to see if this could be WP genuinely showing intent to develop their own mtb stuff

It isn't actually WP. Those are rebranded DVO shocks, which in turn are rebranded SR Suntour shocks.

DVO shocks are not a copy of Suntour, it's just that the DVO shocks are made in the Suntour factory and part of the detail is that Suntour can use parts of the design in their own shocks. The main difference being that DVO uses bladders and Suntour uses IFPs
