Red Bull Hardline is the one downhill race that actually keeps some of the best bike riders in the world away. The risk is high, the reward is bragging rights and some cash. An evil creation of Dan Atherton, the ludicriously steep, technical and jump-filled course is as close to impossible to ride as possible. The racers that do attend are stoked to survive, let alone get a result. So much so that Josh Bryceland came back to race, qualified 8th and said, "nah, I'm good," sitting out the rain-soaked race day. 20 invited riders tried to qualify, 10 made it to the show and in the end Gee Atherton punished the mountain and the field by over 5 seconds. Bernard Kerr slotted into 2nd, hopefully earning enough to repair is ailing vehicle, and Charlie Hatton placed 3rd, proving that mentorship from the Atherton clan equals hard work, but also results. Dig into the photos and audio interviews from the weekend thanks to Sven and Boris, who also barely survived.
