Anyone else wonder why these top teams use clear protection on the frames? It's unlikely these frames will be sold on.

Ummmm...nope. They are most always sold. I know a few pros who donate their old frames to their mechanics. More than anything, it's to keep the product looking good. Peel it off and slap on a new set for another World Cup if ever needed.

Thinner? Better feel? Lighter? Oh and his mechanic will make sure they are glued down and problem free before every run.

@OZ_Taylor you left off "Absolute nightmare to swap out on a damp afternoon, even under a tent. Also, an absolute nightmare to get on or off in a short period of time in dry weather.

But...if you've got a mechanic to boss around who can make them stay put on a muggy Sunday AM...why not I guess.

I have heard that running wire tied grips (anything non-lock on) helps with arm pump.

100% better feel. They suck to deal with compared to lock on but no doubt they are a better feel.

I can get arm pump on a motocross bike in 2 laps, but have never gotten arm pump on a DH bike except at Mt. Snow. Good lord that place is awesome.
