Black on black, there's no denying the YT heritage. Also, there's no denying that JEFFSY is a bit of a looker, especially in CF Pro trim shown here.

If not the top of the world, at least the top of Madeira. We'd heard a lot about this small island in the Atlantic before we came here, and it turned out to be every bit as spectacular as they said. YT CEO Markus Flossmann (in audio) gets ready to rip a lap with JEFFSY.

JEFFSY CF Comp 2 weighs in at 13.3 kgs (29.3 lbs) with a 2x11 Shimano transmission and RockShox squish. That's a lot of bike for EUR 3,599.

YT found a secret lair hidden on the west coast of Madeira where they could go about showing us the new bikes away from prying eyes. We kept expecting a Bond-esque mini sub to pop up but it failed to materialize.

YT's enduro team rider Bryan Regnier was on hand to help us test the new steed. Bryan didn't get the "it's for trail riding, it's not a Capra" memo...

We got to spend a few days riding the new bike, and our initial impressions are very positive. JEFFSY is very fast and nimble, but also confidence inspiring and stable.

The alloy Comp 1 is a pretty convincing package, offering RockShox Pike/Monarch Plus suspension, SRAM GX 1x11, a Reverb dropper and Race Face finishing kit for the tidy sum of EUR 2,799.

Top of the line Carbon Pro, certainly drool worthy but also a step above in terms of performance. We felt it was a better balanced bike than the RockShox version, and in this case, we'd definitely recommend splurging for the Pro if your budget allows it.

YT's V4L suspension has proven itself on both the Capra and the TUES, and we found it brings the same positive traits that we enjoyed in those two bikes to the trail bike platform. The water bottle + cage were developed specifically for the bike.

Bryan Regnier wasted no time getting comfortable with JEFFSY. He says he plans to ride the bike at least at one EWS event this year.

a Flip Chip lets you alter the BB height and headangle. We felt the bike was essentially designed around the low setting, with the high setting available for those who specifically need more ground clearance or who ride really tight trails.

The riding in Madeira is all-time: fun, fast, flowy trails that go on and on. The locals shuttle a lot, but JEFFSY dealt with all but the harshest of brake bumps with poise.

Stefan "Willi" Willared (in audio) is YT's CTO and the man behind the technical aspects of the bikes. We found @maddogboris at the back of the class, of course.

The guys at Extra Mile work hard for extra smiles. The local stash of trails is impressive, which came in handy since we were there to test trail bikes.

Madeira gives as good as it takes. The weather changes every 5 minutes, but there's always a trail to ride - and the JEFFSY was a very good tool for that particular job.

Did we mention the trails here are a lot of fun? JEFFSY's speed and lack of weight make for a very playful bike, which really only reaches its limits when the trail surface gets really rough. 140-mm of travel runs out eventually, and although bottom out is well controlled, you will start to get hung up earlier than on a longer travel bike.

Boost, but not 27.5+ compatible. Note the alu insert close to the rear axle that protects the seat stay from chain rub, a neat touch. YT says they learned a lot from the Capra which lead to many little improvements on the JEFFSY.

YT's Capra and TUES are both well-balanced bikes that are easy to get along with. Part of the reason is the progressive rear suspension behavior, which YT wisely chose to bring to the JEFFSY as well.

Top level spec all around on the CF Pro, for a total claimed build weight of 11.9kg (26.3 lbs). Note the FD mount which YT says is not something they see going away in the future, wide-range 1x or not.

At 1800 meters, Madeira's tallest peak is often above the clouds. You can ride a single trail here and experience 3 seasons by the time you get down.

Description
YT is at it again, and this time, they're going after the trail bike, or perhaps we should say, the all-mountain segment. The excitement has been building over the past month as the result of an extensive teaser campaign, and now the time has come to pull back the curtains and reveal who, or more accurately what JEFFSY is. YT invited us to Madeira to present their latest creation, you can check out the bike and all the action from the trip in the slideshow above before you dive into the specs, geo, and pricing information below. Oh yeah, there's a launch video with Gwin, Zink, and Regnier to enjoy too:
