I say Dunc, you say Dawg! Duncan Riffle of the Dirt / Norco Race Team.

Dunc's Norco Aurum, hours before heading to South Africa for Round 1 of the 2012 UCI World Cup.

Duncan had never straddled a Norco Aurum until about a month ago.

Sub 37-pound bike weight for this Norco Aurum.

For South Africa, Duncan is planning to maximize pedaling efficiency while remembering the course is really fast, with big hits and bumps.

RockShox Vivid Air keeps the weight down and the tunability up. Riffle likes the air-spring feel.

This SDG saddle and Dunc will spend some quality time together through the PMB flats.

Norco has included a spare rear derailleur hanger bolt built into the frame. SICK.

Attention to detail with the anodized blue bits, like the integrated seat post binder.

Integrated fork bumpers come in different thicknesses so you can determine how tight your steering is.

50mm Thomson direct mount stem with Kore 800mm bars.

XO brakes with ODI grips.

The short head tube on the Aurum allows for a lot of adjustability.

Even with this pile of spacers, Duncan's bars are a half-inch lower than 2011 because his BB height is half-inch lower with the Aurum.

The goal is a consistent measurement to control cockpit position changes.

And it comes down to his stack height, basically...

Despite the half-inch lower BB, compared to his 2011 bike, Duncan will still run 170mm cranks.

Trying 165mm cranks just didn't feel right when a lot of pedaling was on the menu. When the tracks get steeper, later this season, he will re-evaluate crank length.

36 or 38t up front and 11-23 cassette in the rear.

8-inches of travel via the A.R.T suspension with 157x12mm Syntace axle system.

Duncan runs tubes with his Schwalbe tires.

Tubeless is possible with his set up, but on the World Cup, the simplicity of a tube wins the battle over the weight-savings of tubeless.
