You win the Bazillion dollar lottery, what do you do MTB related?

As I type this fantasy from soul crushing corporate America. We've been looking for land in the Roanoke, Va valley area regardless of a bazillion dollars but it makes it easier. Since I wouldn't have to have a real job I'd like to put 5-6 half size shipping container mini-houses together to make an Air BnB-ish set up with a rider focus for mtb, road, gravel, whatever. Could run shuttles, guide, whatever. Donate and volunteer to trail organizations heavily.

The hard part is learning to fold laundry and make muffins.

Buy Discovery to fix the WC.

Use the rest of money to lobby every govt to ban e-bikes just to piss off e bikers.

Infinite money and only thinking about entertainement/the sport side of things: 15 rounds of world cup. Set up a system of qualifiers at the national/regional level to be eligible to enter a race with the opportunity for national federations to enter some riders in the race if they don't meet the criteria. Everything is broadcasted. High prize money, financial support for travel and pits for privateers.

I'd buy property in places I want to ride (Squamish, Revelstoke, somewhere in Europe, etc) and host friends whenever they want to come out. Donate tons to different trail organizations and non-profits that promote cycling and make access easier to low-income and marginalized communities.

Ride when/where I want. Maybe push the limits of N+1, but give so many bikes away.

I don't think I'd invest in a team, or bike park or company. I want to ride bikes because it's fun and wouldn't want it to turn into work.

I tend to agree with the last comment, although with enough money you can hire people to deal with the "work" part.  All you have to do is sign the checks.

Part of me wants to buy Plattekill Mtn in NY and get the DH trails there running again. And install a new hi-speed detachable lift.  Maybe restart the monthly race series...

But mostly I'd just want to travel around the world and ride bikes in cool places with my friends.  I wouldn't buy a plane, but renting a jet sounds nice.  I'd also have a couple of bike-oriented RVs small and large, depending on what I want to do.

I don't think I have any ambitions toward "improving" the state of the industry, but I'd sure be giving it a boost on the retail side!

Some of the ideas above like making sure every kid on the block has a bike are my style, too. I would probably be donating a lot to charity, so anything named "bikes for kids" would be a great recipient.

-Try and revive or create a modern NORBA like series. DH, XC, Enduro, Slopestyle… all in one place over the course of a Friday-Sunday. Vendors/companies/food trucks, blah, blah, blah. That way there’s always something to see or do and is more family friendly and better bang for the buck.

-Donate a bunch of money to NICA. There is no mountain biking if there are no future mountain bikers.

-Give money to get more and better trails made nation wide. I’m pretty tired of winding, flat, bermless, bench cut double track.

-Finally get a 120mm travel, steel, gearbox, full 29 frame with my preferred wack geometry and kinematic made.

-Build about…8-10 24th scale RC rock crawlers.

I'd help my bestie and her husband retire early(so I could ride with them more),buy a bunch of property in Q'town so my friends there had property security(and I'd have somewhere to stay when i drive down there).Have my local bike park build a jump line with the best all weather surface in the world.

Well if you win a billion dollars you'd bring home about 600 million of it. I think some of you will have to win the lottery a couple times to buy a world class ski resort and build trails on it and also run a racing series and some world cup teams that money will go quicker than you could imagine.

I think the honest answer for me is just buy some property in cool areas, buy some bikes, buy some more dirt bikes and have plenty of extras for my buddies to ride them and just enjoy life with my wife. I think trying to better the industry and all that sounds great but in reality it will cause lots of stress which is exactly what im trying to avoid by being a billionaire I guess.

Winning from gambling is tax free over on the eastern side of the atlantic. of course the biggest Euromillions to date equates to just over a quarter billion US, so you've still got more net money to play with.

My dream would be to connect the alpine ski resorts so the entire french, swiss and italian alps were one massive interconnected lift served riding area.

And as a cheaper addition, buying up some forestry land in the UK and paying some local trail builders to make a massive free to ride trail area.
