I’m coming to grips with the fact that I’m the limiting factor on how much fun I have or how fast I go on a ride. I’ve done the custom wheels, custom tuned shock and fork and still end up being slower than I was 4-5 years ago. That makes sense though, I’m almost 49 now.
Did I pick up a new bike recently with all the crazy good sales, yes I did. But I sold a bike first and will try to sell another one soon. N+1 is a pain in the butt and now I have one more bike than I need and a bunch of random parts and tools from bikes I don’t even own anymore. Luckily I sold off a bunch of stuff when the going was good, but I probably should’ve sold even more.
A 170/170 enduro bike, a steel hardtail with a 150 fork and a gravel bike that lives on the trainer in the winter. Seems to work out pretty well for me, I always have at least one bike with a serviceable rear wheel. Too bad the weather has been garbage this winter and tonight was the 22nd ride of the year on that gravel bike.
