Abby Ronca with her best qualifying result yet by a long shot in Junior women with a 4th! Interested to see if the US Junior men are higher on the qualifying board at this round.
The consistent natural terrain for the entire track length should allow other riders to shine this round compared to Lenzerheide and Leogang. So much more line choice and places for technical riding ability to shine!
Junior race start lists (PDFs) - again, fastest qualifier not going last. pinkerton and sacha 4th from end. last 3 down are based on how the current top 3 in the overall qualified? random, lame IMO.

The top 3 are the protected riders and in this case the top 3 in the overall. But agree that being protected should just get you in the final and not a prime start position
For those interested and I think I got this right the men's protected riders are
Semis
Finn Iles, Loris Vergier, Andreas Kolb, Bernard Kerr, Laurie Greenland, Benoit Coulanges, Danny Hart, Greg Minnaar - all protected for semis for the whole season based on last years results
Loic Bruni, Jackson Goldstone, Jordan Williams, Luca Shaw, Troy Brosnan,Thibault Daprela, Dak Norton, Charlie Hatton, Ronan Dunne, Dylan Levesque - protected into the semis as long as they are in the top 20 overall.
Finals -
Finn Iles, Loris Vergier, (Not sure if Kolb moves up for the season since AP is out) - protected into the finals for the whole year for finishing in the Top 3 overall for the 2022 season
Loic Bruni, Andreas Kolb, Jackson Goldstone, Jordan Williams, Laurie Greenland, Benoit Coulanges, Luca Shaw, Troy Brosnan - protected each race as long as they stay in the Top 10 of this years overall.
Riders like Thibault and Dak the semi points are important since they are on the bubble of getting protected for the whole weekend at the next race.
For the women
Semis
Camille Balanche, Valentina Höll, Nina Hoffmann protected for the season (plus Myriam Nicole Eleonora Farina when they come back)
Monika Hrastnik, Marine Caribou, Gracey Hemstreet, Phoebe Gale for being in the Top 10 overall
Finals
Camille Balanche, Valentina Höll - all season protection
Nina Hoffmann, Monika Hrastnik - for being in the Top 5 this season
*with the injured protected riders plus Rachel not racing the number of protected riders is lower. 7 instead of 10.
Thank you for this—I feel like you’re the only one who gets it! I just straight up don’t get it and cannot believe be bothered to learn, so this is exactly what I need. You’re a good person and you deserve a great day.

In the women's juniors, a new name to follow: Sacha Earnest.
She scorched the qualis this morning, won the NZ U19 Nationals, and has performed absolutely fantastically in Crankworx this year.
She's no fluke.
It's early days, but that's an impressive start to a UCI World Cup career.
Pinkerton threw it away unfortunately. It seems the gap between top 10 junior and elite is shrinking FAST over the last few years, especially considering many elite are seasoned veterans. Race pace intensity is crazy high, I love it!
I was obviously on some pretty strong drugs when I said the track didn't look as gnarly, it's a beast. There's some very busy mechanics in those pits if some of the noises are anything to go by.
Looking at the photos on the other site it doesn't look like that privateer award deal is working out too well for Roger Viera.
Good to see him qualify, I wonder what bike he was riding?
Pinkerton in first (so far, will probably stay there) and Ronca in 4th. Not bad for usdh.

The Juniors put on a great show today.
Pinkerton's run was memorable. (That's putting it mildly...)

Minnaar is getting the most advantage of the new rules, getting into semis and finals and points along the way.
He’s not protected for the finals just the semi
raw from today. grease and powder dust at the start

Am I missing something, or is Dak not on the qualifying list?
Way at the bottom. Luckily he’s protected.
Yeah I think he has actually not used his protection once so far.
OFFICIAL 2023 Val Di Sole drinking game:
-Ric or CG mention Sam Hill’s 2008 crash: take a drink.
if semis/finals are anything like the Juniors broadcast... GOOD LUCK.
Has anyone found a link with a stream not hidden behind the paywall
