could see any kind of crash or off-track excursion in the steeps resulting in a huge loss of time if separated from bike. or even just blowing the off-camber line and trying to get back up to the race line. minnaar is only 10 sec back for instance.
How is it possible to be this at ease...? [mindblownemoji]

No idea how may WC's this kid will win or how his career will go but he is without a doubt the most gifted rider I have seen in 30+ years of following DH racing. He is something special on a bike.

If GMBN sticks with that start time it will mean they're not going to show the women juniors live. Women juniors start at 12:00 Central Europe time / 3:00 PST. Hopefully they'll correct that. Both the women and men juniors have some real talent this year and it's great getting to watch them race.
UCI MTB World Series YT channel hasn't posted anything about the juniors yet.
Head scratching on the juniors even being scheduled to race tomorrow. Thought the whole point of shifting things around was for a potential electrical storm on Saturday and the lifts weren’t going to be able to run

I understood it to mean they're going to try to race the juniors before the storm moves in...

Apparently the weather forecast they had when the schedule was changed indicated that the adverse weather was expected later on Saturday afternoon, so the latest schedule I saw had Elite training in the morning tomorrow, followed by the women and men Juniors finals. The last junior is due to start at 13:21 local time. After that there is nothing on Saturday's schedule.
If the weather change doesn't hold off until at least mid-afternoon, it could make for another race day where conditions change before all riders complete their runs. The last 3 riders down the hill will be the top 3 in the current WC standings.
I debated on publicly griping about the schedule change but decided I am pissed enough to do it. We got to send Bodie to Loudenvielle and Les Gets for his first elite World Cups on a petition spot and send Kasen along with him to film and put together a couple Rooted episodes. It was all super last minute, required work to be moved around and missed and cost a shit ton of money. We were stoked to pull together some sponsor help to get those two there.
The earliest they could get there was the originally scheduled track walk day. They land the flight, and Bodie sees that an hour earlier than he landed, they had done this last minute schedule change that pushed practice and qualifying a day earlier. They obviously tried to get to the venue, register and make it happen but the timing wasn't possible, and they could not help him at registration. He was told to try again the next morning at 8 and he would get a short B practice session right into qualifying. The next morning he heads to registration to find it was mostly packed up and nobody was around to help. He finally talked to someone from the UCI and they told him that he should have emailed a day earlier and that they couldn't do anything for him. For an 18 year old that has been working hard to do this and has been so excited, its obviously a massively frustrating situation. For Rooted, we have been dying to get Bodie to some World Cups to start that learning process and have some fun on those tracks.
Obviously showing up the day of track walk is not advisable, but it is what had to happen. I have never seen a schedule change like that in DH, especially for weather forecast days in advance. For privateers that are already swimming upstream, changes like this certainly don't help, especially when petition spots get decided late making logistics extra difficult. Thankfully this week he will be part of the traveling circus in Europe and get to Les Gets with plenty of time.

I thought you were joking on the instagram post, that is seriously demoralizing to hear. I don’t like the way they are so casually shifting the schedules these past two races and I’m sure other privateers have been seriously effected too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bodie is shedding tears over missing out on this track 🥲
When was the last time the UCI delayed or pushed forward schedules at a World Cup that wasn’t directly due to a thunderstorm or lift malfunction forcing things to close? I sure hope the top riders/rider union gave them hell for attempting to play the weather game but still failing last weekend.

Just saw few stories and the track looked unrideable due to the mud. Not sure if they cancelled it because of that or because of weather.
I just saw GMBN posted on their YT channel that the race was cancelled and that the live stream would not be happening.
Well, if they're letting the quali times be considered final times, congrats to Sacha Earnest on her second WC win. Pretty impressive start to her WC career: 3 races entered, with 2 first places. Add to that a podium at World Champs. I'm sure she and all the other juniors - women and men - would rather be racing today.
Congratulation also to Ryan Pinkerton. I'm pretty sure he now moves into 1st in the WC Junior standings.
Again just from IG, there seem to be mixed feelings about the cancellation and maybe the track wasn't so bad... I wonder why they did not go for the previous plan of having all races on Sunday. We need more transparency with all these schedule changes. Maybe they should just have a set contingency plan.
That roost shot of Kade is sick.

I'm curious if this track will take the top spot as steepest now. It's so mind-blowingly steep!

lots of big names way off the back. but luca shaw 6th and dylan maples 8th?! heck yeah!
I noticed that too. Wonder what happened to Jackson and Jordan?
I'm calling BS. Ain't no way he is that composed on that track. They had him do a voice over on the trainer in the pits. lol

I smell some sneaky racecraft being applied!
With a course this new and this wide I bet many of the riders holding a protected status rode their B-lines in qualy.
Do you pull out the goods in Semi or do you continue to hold until finals?
I can't wait till Sunday. This is going to be a good one!

Proper ragdoll. Looks like he had one foot clipped in until that last shot.
Check Kolb's IG story for a side view of that crash .
BTW, Hoffman messed up the last jump pretty bad, so she would have definitely been first in qualy.

They finally corrected the YT live stream time.
Junior Downhill Finals live stream starts at 5:45 EST / 2:45 PST / 11:45 CEST time / 9:45 UTC. (First rider down the hill at 12:00 CEST.)
As far as I can tell, only GMBN is carrying it but maybe UCI will add it at the last minute? No idea.
