Whats the back story on that ? Did he have a recent injury , an old injury that was plated and is deteriorating ?
Super bummed about this , he was a pace setter all week and looking like a solid contender.

Not sure what I’m watching…is this supposed to be a race?

My comment above was posted about 1 hour into the broadcast. Aside from Lou Fergusons wild run and the excellent commentary, I wasn’t really enjoying the event at that point. For an hour we were watching riders simply ride down a track. I have huge respect for anyone who can ride that track, but as a form of entertainment, it wasn’t doing it for me. It’s not like the free riders could showcase their talent and throw tricks on the jumps.

But, by the end when it turned into a proper dh race with close times it was awesome. Stoked to see Ronan win, hopefully Jackson is healed for The Fort and keen to see what the Forbidden boys can do this year. Bring on WC1.

I think the organisers also learnt from past mistakes, Barreli was a podcast recently saying he was so relieved when he dropped out of the Welsh hardline one of the first years because the track was barely rideable in between the features, I don't remember the stats, but something like 10 riders turned up to finals out of the 30 invitees at the start of the week.

Hardline to me is more like rampage than a race: the build-up and feature testing is more fun than the final event.

Agree. I think this is what Sam Hills comments are about.  WC courses should be rideable by all who roll up to the start line. The best will just be much quicker. Hardline Rampage and the like should make some of the very best turn around and go home. I don't see Sam Hills comments as being anything other than a statement of what it should be. THe best in the world should be shaking their heads and checking the flights home

They want participation from the female category

Jess Blewits bones were not capable of withstanding the drop in the Wales Hard-line course.

So everything will be more flowy and  less gnarly from now on.

We will probably soon have trigger warnings at the start of broadcasts: may include swear words and images of people hurting themselves.

In my opinion The best of the sport  is behind us

The technical section out of the gate is intense and proper steep, no surprises it caught a couple riders out race day.

Very easy to saw as someone who hasn't tried to ride the black snake, or someone who is getting paid MTB rider/racer pay willing to risk everything for a 10th place nobody cares about.

Let's risk these riders life who are on minimum wage just for me to feel good watching YouTube as it confirms my world view.

Not sure what you are saying Steve.  All MTB is a risk to life.  Rampage is for sure. DH world cup is, so is the local club race.  We all risk our life. These races are the cream of the crop risking their life. I suspect that they would even if they where not sponsored. These comments are about the Tassie track being underwhelming really.

Ironically the riders who weren’t that great to watch were the ones invited because of their social media following or the paint on their helmet. Those guys certainly aren’t surviving on minimum age.

A 10th place at a World Cup will get you noticed. A 10th place at Rampage or Hardline won’t. Are you saying that these events aren’t worth the risk for the riders who aren’t capable of winning? You could be right, but nobody becomes an MTB rider to get rich.

Agree that once the actual racers started it was entertaining. It felt that Redbull needed to fill their quota of sponsored athletes, hence the RB freeride/freeracer riders are invited.

Feels that many of the DH specialist Redbull racers don't want to risk risk their DH World Cup on what is (at the risk of being down voted) a Redbull promotional event.

If the following RB DH athletes (most if not all would be capable of riding the track) turned up the freeriders wouldn't be needed at Hardline and RB would have half the field with wings on their helmet. Jess Blewitt (raced in the past and got injured, so maybe her new team wasn't to thrilled at the prospect of their new signing missing World Cups), Loïc Bruni (on the original start list but pulled out a few weeks earlier), Aaron Gwin (injured now but never raced a Hardline in the past), Vali Höll, Finn Iles, Myriam Nicole, Richie Rude.

Louise Ferguson is an ANIMAL for getting back up not once but TWICE, dusting herself off, and completing the Hardline course. Just look at those windsocks at the final jump section Dizzy that's some commitment right there! Sweaty palms just watching!

I second that! Lou pushing through to finish that run and join Gracey as the first two women to complete a Hardline race run is massive for our sport. Anyone who's crashed in a race run knows how hard it is to collect yourself and keep pushing on, and for her to do that TWICE on such a gnarly track was sooo impressive.
