Courses Announced for the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike Enduro and E-enduro World Championships in Val di Fassa Trentino!

5 Special Stages for Enduro, 9 Stages for E-enduro in Val di Fassa with Fast Lift Access and a Thrilling Final Stage Broadcast Live!

With less than 10 days to go until the inaugural UCI Moutain Bike Enduro and E-enduro World Championships, we are excited to finally reveal the two race courses on which athletes will compete for the coveted rainbow jerseys and four titles: Enduro and e-Enduro, both men’s and women’s categories.

The event takes place amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites of Fassa, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the organizational hub and paddock located in the welcoming town of Canazei. Canazei is already well-known for hosting three rounds of the Enduro World Series in 2019, 2021, and 2022, as well as a round of the UCI Enduro World Cup as part of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Series.

The course stretches across three sectors of the Val di Fassa: Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, and the Ciampac area, all of which can be easily reached by spectators on foot from the paddock area and via the fast Fassa Lift facilities.

Spectators will be able to collect brochures and course maps with all the useful information needed to fully enjoy the event at the Event Information Center located in front of the stage. Additionally, the official event website will feature a Spectator Map and real-time updates on the competition, allowing fans to follow the battle for the title at this link: https://events.fassabike.com/follow-the-race/

The Enduro course includes 5 special stages across a total of 42.4 km, featuring 1,200 m of climbing and a remarkable 2,800 m of descending. The key stages - Titans, Infinity SE, and Tutti Frutti - cover 80% of the course and are expected to be the most challenging and decisive for the final result. The two shorter stages, Glühwein and Ciasates, are no less intense, with the latter providing a thrilling finale. This final stage will be broadcast live on a giant screen at the finish line area. To add to the excitement, before the final stage, competitors will be reordered, with the fastest rider starting last, while the current leader will sit on a special Hot Seat in front of the crowd!

In the E-enduro competition, participants will face 9 special stages divided into two loops, covering a total of 52.8 km and 3,439 m of descending, with a battery recharge break in the paddock at Canazei between loops. In addition to shared descents with the Enduro course, there will be two new Power Stages, Bridge 72 and Becherle. Although these stages are short and mostly uphill, they are highly technical and will play a crucial role in determining the final standings!

To ensure fair competition and allow proper course marking, the race tracks will remain closed until the start of official training on September 13th. However, the other trails in the Val di Fassa Bike District will remain open and accessible to those wishing to ride the park even during the event.

In terms of sustainability, this year’s UCI World Championships will use an eco-friendly initiative by using special course tape with a 60% reduction in plastic and printed with water-based ink for a certified carbon dioxide savings of 475 kg.

The UCI Mountain Bike Enduro and E-enduro World Championships in Val di Fassa Trentino will officially kick off on Thursday, September 12th, at 8:00pm with the Opening Ceremony and National Athletes Parade through the historic center of Canazei. Enduro and E-enduro practice sessions will take place on Friday, with the races scheduled for Saturday, September 14th. Sunday, September 15th, will be the “Ride, Test & Explore” day, where fans can visit the paddock, meet the athletes, and ride the still-warm race tracks after the monumental battles have just concluded.

For those unable to attend in person, the racing action can be followed on the UCI’s Instagram (@uci_mountainbike) and YouTube channel (@ucichannel). Additionally, race highlights will be available on YouTube Sunday evening and broadcast on Eurosport on September 19th at 5 PM CET, ensuring that all the action can still be enjoyed remotely.

For further information, including details about the volunteer recruitment campaign, please visit the official event website at events.fassabike.com and follow the official social media channels @fassabike and @uci_mountainbike

2024 Snow Biking World Champs round 2!

I'm sure everyone was so happy to take 2 months off during primetime riding season.

Usual to have a break in Summer, as not to clash with the TDF.

The break is longer in an Olympic year as not ton clash with the Olympic’s.

Ah yes, a long break so all those DH and Enduro riders can participate in the Olympics. (It ended a month ago anyway).

According to the wepowder ski forecast: Weather for Saturday at the top: 13 cm of snow, -8°C, force 7 wind... First they risk heatstroke in Finale and now frostbite in Canazei, it seems tough to be an enduro racer.

There was only one week between the final day of the Olympic’s and when the world champs week started.

That place looks incredible

It is, Dolomites are incredibly beautiful. Also tracks are fantastic, S1 is just magic, didnt ride S2, S3 ridgeline is crazy exposed, middle part is a bit beaten natural trail and lower part is again perfect loamer (at least it was last year). S4 is okayish bikepark and the last one is again natural tech. Canazei is a part of Sellaronda (Sella circle) which takes you around Sella mountain and it can be traversed in summer by bike and in winter by skis, pretty much whole day alpine adventure with crazy views. One weekend in early summer they just close all the roads and its becomes the best cycle path in the world. Italians know their stuff!

For the rest of world:

It has been a bonkers year here in the southern Alps, we had a really late massive snowfall in Spring, tand it stayed cool enough until summer. Then came one of the hottest summers on record, the meditarranean sea was at about 30 degrees all of august here in France, a good 5 degrees (celcius), hotter than usual, temperatures wouldn't go down at night. Then 2 weeks ago massive storms rolled through and we dropped from 30 degrees at night to 15 degrees. So all in all very extreme and quite unpredictable weather in this part of the world.

From the organizers:

Due to adverse weather conditions the following modifications to the course have been made. Ensuring the safety of athletes, teams, staff and volunteers remains our utmost priority.

Titans – Start lowered to 100m below the tree line, please take care when descending down the gravel road to the start.

Tutti Frutti – New start on Rodeline into Fassa and Furious – pedal liaison ONLY (Pradel-Rodella lift will be closed to racers), at the end of Tutti Frutti riders are to descend back to town via the main road Strada Dolimites.

Infinity SE – New start from Refugio Ciampolin – pedal liaison.

I’m not sure why they haven’t threaded at least one nut on to each of those screws.
