Charles Murray makes a case for figuring out how to broadcast. Specialized was livestreaming him (presumably coming in for the possible win), and he goes off course and crashes in one of the final turns opening it for Richie to take it.

I bet he still chokes when it comes to the actual race, although I'd love to be proven wrong!

BEHIND THE DESIGN: TAKE A LOOK AT THE NEWEST NORCO DH KIT AND BIKE

June 6, 2024 - PORT COQUITLAM, BC.

In celebration of our 60th anniversary, the liveries of the Norco Race Division will be updated and celebrated throughout the UCI DH World Cup season.

Concepted by creators Nick Larsen and Paul Bliss, the newest look will be represented by the athletes in Leogang, Austria, and Val di Sole, Italy.

For the first kit of the season, the Norco logo was the theme. The second design concept is about the riders – they’re such an interconnected group. Nick and Paul took the painted portraits that their friend, rider and artist Max Nerurkar, created for the Norco truck, and turned them into jersey and bike designs.

“I always enjoy working with Nick & Paul, they always give me a lot of creative freedom while also pointing me in directions I might not usually explore. I had never really painted portraits; it was fun to see how people turned out looking without being too attached to a particular result.” – Max Nerurkar

The paint theme continues on the jersey with an aerosol version of the rock on one arm, along with the paint stripes, combined with a mix n’ match of logos and graphic elements that are repeated across their Norco designs for the year.

The designs are influenced by a period in the sport when things were less professional – the homemade aesthetic of the garage bike brands that kicked off what we know today as the modern era of off-road bike companies, of which Norco is one. Norco has been around since the beginning and it’s a way to celebrate our heritage while looking ahead to what’s new and inventive.

The team will be riding for Lucas after his injury in Fort William, featuring his portrait on bike frames painted by Fresh Paints of Whistler so that he’s “with them” as they ride.

"We are a pretty tight-knit team, having Lucas get injured in Fort William was pretty gutting, we all missed him. We brought him back on t-shirts in Poland which was really cool and now the creative team have done a great job on the frames. To me, this is one of the best-looking frames we've had. I'm super excited to see it out on the track!" – Greg Minnaar

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes action as we follow the Norco Race Division throughout the 2024 UCI Downhill World Cup season.

I see the Basquiat influence, however, they're doing wayyyy too much and the execution is just not there. There's a saying out there that goes like this, "nothing is good with everything, except an everything bagel". Meaning that by trying to please everyone, you're actually pleasing nobody. So focus on the things that are good and scrap the ones that are taking away from the bigger picture (ie. the portraits) and I think they might actually have a sick kit

Hey art critic guy, look at you dropping Basquiat references with your new mustache. You continue to surprise, Tanner.

Imagine our surprise when Loic is just like The Stig and the buttons actually change the song in his helmet so it plays like DnB on a flowy jump section and 80s montage rock in a pedal section and old school hip hop in the tech to find the flow in the rough.

edit: oh that's awkward after watching the video... he literally makes that joke. I am either not that creative or I am as funny/cool as Loic. i'll let the jury decide... :/

This is legit functionality I would use! (Been experimenting w/ different types of music to see if/how it impacts my riding (w/ bone conduction headphones so I can still hear)).

I know this forum gets used for discussing things like who is on form and whatnot but

how good is that first off-camber grassy bit in the DH race?!?! I love it, seeing riders navigate that has been an absolute treat and I love having a section like that in a WC race

Pretty sick gopro clips from Moi Moi of the rad stages this weekend. Bummer to see him flat at the top of the first stage...what could have been.

It’s wild how fast the track was today, especially up top. Looks like riding on rails! And holy hell the compressions in the lower woods made my shoulders sore just watching.

That tree clip. He seemed invincible until then. Ronan's lines are outrageous right now. Talk about finding the limit of a track.

I'm still blown away how they're running the stump section. I get that it's a calculated choice that works at the right speed but it just looks like a triple compression that should blow you right off the bars by the third bit. Dunno. I'd love to see that section IRL. One of the few sections that LOOKS gnarly even through media.

Definitely didn’t get Basquiat.  There definitely is a someone this kind of reminds of but it’s escaping me right now.

Enduro tracks looked much better this year.  Props to organizers.  No longer looks like an afterthought race.

Rough way to end the day for Mr. Murray with 3 big slams in the final stage. Props to getting it to the line; I would have definitely given up after that first slam.
