Redbull Hardline slated for July 15/16 in Wales. Will be interesting to see you enters being that its not at the end of the season now but 2 weeks before World Champs.
The start of the next gen. Kids who grew up in mtb havens on good bikes. Think there is going to be a lot of shake up to the World Cup in the next 5 years.
First World Cup of the "new" UCI World Series is this weekend. Are people hyped for it or actually are we already seeing Enduro taking a back seat and most fans just waiting for their respective fav discipline (DH or XC) to start off the World Cup season?

Hard to feel like it’s not taking a back seat when the only advertising from eso I’ve seen is a YouTube video on “who to watch”. Looks like it’s going to be another year of riders and teams having to market themselves.
katy winton’s podcast has me pretty stoked for the season. Though Chris hall alluded to downtime podcast ending if he can’t get enough patreon supporters since bike companies are reeling back their budgets.
47 entries so far (with 13 hours remaining to register) for the Tennessee National in UCI Elite Men. All the big American names are there including Norton, Mulally, Shaw, Grice, Vermette, Dooley, Silva and Lemire (Canada), plus a bunch more. Neko looked great last weekend in NZ, Grice won the first DHSE, Dak is sure to be fast but is his program ramped up yet? Lemire on the Transition for the first time, Vermette crushed it at US Open, Shaw should be back strong.... Who's your picks?
TN nats should be rad. Is Gwin not entered? We'll have vids/pics from there as well as raws from tasmania enduro. our filmer in taz said it should be pretty good!

The big news is points are now awarded for every stage. If you win a stage it’s 20 points, 2nd gets 17, etc. Then there are points for overall finish, 400 points for race win, 350 for 2nd, etc. So it gives a rider a little bonus to play with. Say you dominate the race but flat in the last stage, you have a few points in the bag from the stages you dominated, takes the sting out of that last stage mechanical or whatevs.
Also, they’ve backed down from the idea that the last stage start order would be determined by accumulated stage points. It’s back to the overall standing according to accumulated times (which makes more sense anyway, as they only award stage points to top ten stage finishers… facepalm…).
haven't dug through it all, so post any findings you see

If an Aussie or Kiwi won a round in Europe, the money wouldn't cover the flight home lol
If you won every round (and therefore the overall) you'd gross €20,500 in prize money. I guess that would cover most travel(?). You don't ride bikes to get rich
This scoring for each episode makes a bit of sense to me anyway. The prizes seem to be cool but, but slightly odd, it's 75E for 10th place.... But those from 11th place have no prize.
Collecting qualification points nowadays is also slightly pointless....
I would also have a question, does anyone know where there are/will be any photos of the competition? Pitbits, shakedown, media reece?

That's right, you ride bikes to get other people rich. The way we all know it should be....

Windrock is unreal. We were there for the Enduro. On Thursday, I saw Gwin, Pinkerton, Luca Shaw, Dak, Frida, and Grice in the shuttle line. That area is really becoming the epicenter of the DH scene.. and for good reason.

Take you pick of any brand paying rubbish wages to racers while turning a profit. Why should they get the exposure racing brings for free?
I have a hard time believing short of consistently getting on the podium many riders are actually having results translate to bike sales. And those guys by and large are making a decent salary.
internationial racing is insanely expensive. There are few and basically no title team sponsors from outside the industry. Only reason these series exist and there is a deep field of upcoming riders is because the brands are as passionate about bike racing as fans are. That’s not to take away from the talent and dedication it takes to be a top 20 rider. And a top 20 rider can make some money if they can create a following for their personality or want to ride for the best paying brand they can find as opposed to one with proven winning equipment. Because for some brands a top 10 actually translates to exposure that may be worth the investment. What does a top 10 mean to maxxis when they have a guy on the podium.
we’re a niche sport and racing (especially internationally) is probably the most niche part of it.
I certainly hope the sport grows to the point where coke or Bank of America will pay a million dollar prize purse to be attached to the snowshoe World Cup or the likes. But I don’t think the bike industry isn’t valuing racing. If anything it’s quite the opposite.
Press release from Crankworx. Found in a FB post from mtb-mag. Sounds neat!

Jackson just on an absolute tear. Wow.
Jordan Williams not doing too bad among the elites, also. Results from today's Portugal DH Cup. Sick.

Those two U19 girls were putting down some quick laps, seeding & race runs
What was the light Bruni was running in his crankworx run?
Consensus seems to be it's an electronic control to increase damping for his shock...

Yes, Gwin just entered today...

Lets hope the YouTube presenters are not the donkeys from gmbn, otherwise the coverage for me will mainly be moimoi tv and jesses pov videos

Points for stages is long overdue but... well they're not worth very much are they

Which bike brand is getting rich off bike racing?
Oakley

Norco factory team should be there as well.
