Well, that's just weird timing isn't it.
Looking forward for the vids though, the steez in that crew's riding is beyond any "huge trickbag, fancy filters, slow-mo-4-K"-clips out there. With that said, the WC just lost another one of it's huge personality's. But he´ll be back, i hope..
Man, It seems that every specialized bike is in öhlins this year
look at there web site. most of the enduros and stupjumpers are spect with öhlins. Maybe fin and bruni will be factory since specialized doesn't have a factory team.
Official PR words from Niner regarding Voreis. i know i'm stoked to see that he and ian hylands will be knocking out some pics again! 29er barspins coming right up!

January 5, 2017 (Fort Collins, CO) – Last November, Kirt Voreis posted a video to Instagram showing he and his trusted video guy, Doug, working to make a bike video. The problem? Kirt didn’t have a frame. He had parts, but no frame. Making a bike video with only bike parts was, well, difficult. It’s pretty hard to roost some trail without a fully built bike.
Social media went crazy. The interwebs asked, “How could Kirt Voreis not have a frame?” [editor's note...gordo asked] Being the enterprising and seasoned mountain biker, Kirt decided to get a little creative and take matters into his own hands. “Why look for a frame in all the regular places?” he asked. “Why not go hunting?” And so, on a cold, wintry day riding into the woods on Doug’s handlebars, Kirt went hunting and bagged a frame - a Niner, size large.
And the story begins – a match made in the woods. Niner welcomes one of the most storied mountain bikers of all time to our family and, we also gets to watch (and egg Kirt on) as he showcases the capabilities of our newly redesigned trail bikes. Kirt, on the other hand, gets to make more rad bike videos while riding a complete bike and continue to stoke the mountain bike community with his intriguing personality and entertaining antics.
From a career that started in 1994 as a downhill racer to now, one of the most respected and recognized ambassadors of the sport, Kirt has stood on podiums worldwide and worked tirelessly to get others jazzed about mountain biking. Kirt’s history and easy-going personality are well-known in the mountain bike world where he has long been recognized as a leader.
“Truly stoked to be working with Niner bikes for 2017! I’ve been a huge fan of 29er performance since 2010 so being able to work with a company that set that standard is invaluable. I am also extremely motivated to work with the marketing team to create content that inspires a “ride everything” attitude and to have fun doing it! Very excited for 2017, it's Niner Time!” -Kirt Voreis
Kirt will throw a leg over Niner’s trail bikes, the newly redesigned RIP 9 RDO and JET 9 RDO. As Niner’s Trail Ambassador, Kirt will spread Niner love wherever he travels. Find him at major bike festivals, keep an eye out for more riding videos and learn how to ride better with his helpful riding tips.

What's up with that? Did specialized order the development of mtb products as a customer/partner? It almost seems to become their in-house brand for suspension. Would not the first time either, they had or have specialized labeled forks and dropper posts before, but öhlins is sounds much fancier and someone had to develop it anyway.
And those brakes... look like some Formula Cura. So SRAM on transmission only at Spe Gravity ?
Yup these are Formula's new cura brakes. Also check out that fork... It's strangely looking like a RV1 from X-Fusion...Noticed that the crowns and the lowers are really similar. Internals are surely Ohlins.

Well actually, yes! SPecialized and Ohlins partnered on the development of the first Ohlins MTB products. Read all about it RIGHT HERE.

embedded for our pleasure - regardless of if that's troy or not, how sick is that disconnect idea? maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but i like that they're trying.
I'm sure it works, intentionally disconnecting the drive to get ultimate suspension action like Gwinn had at Leogang '15 is such a gnarly idea! The Germans don't mess around!

This year Cairns is no world cup but world championships.
I personally doubt Richie will do a world cup, because it is getting pretty restrictive to get a spot there (points, and so on). So unless you are riding full time DH WC (or smaller qualifying events), I doubt you can do world cups. Exception is if you are riding for your country's federation, which is why maes can do it under belgium colors, but then can Rude ride under USA's colors ?
Have felling Richie will be doing selected WC's, Nationals with an aim for the World Champs and a full EWS series. Much like Jared did when he got 3rd at the South African world champs on his SB66c a few years back.
