General Info
Been dreaming about a gearbox for years. Had a chance to try one this summer, and got one as soon as I could!
Built it on a budget, but there isn't much I plan on upgrading other than a carbon rim in the front.
Building it up was a breeze given that drivetrain is already sorted out, and it felt really comfortable right away, despite my settings being far from ideal!
I get a lot of questions about the gearbox, and figured the best answer is you just gotta try it for a few rides. It took me no time to get used to it, and I feel more comfortable shifting under load on the gearbox now, than even HG+. Not having to do that odd pedal stroke to engage the next gear is something that hasn't bothered me before, but now makes so much sense to me as I can get on full throttle immediately after a corner or whatever section I need to pedal out of.
The bike started off dead silent, but after a few dusty days the headset starting putting out a little creak. It comes with a split crown race, which I was curious about as I first assembled the bike. There's a separate seal, but it's not exactly a double lip rubber seal. Once I replaced the crown race with a CC one which has the same measurements, the bike's back to quiet. Very quiet.
It's an odd sensation when you mess up and it doesn't come with a noise of any sort that you'd expect from a bike. Almost feels like you're riding better.
