I need to demo that MX build. Looks awesome but I'm wondering if I would prefer the Izzo, which I already like quite a bit.

I found the Jeffsy (mx or 29) considerable more capable than the Izzo descending. The Izzo does climb better, but it's not a massive discrepancy. Granted, both bikes' abilities/strengths could be shifted in a few directions with different components.

ya my issue is realizing that the 'BMX-like MTB' is just about dead in the current industry. and i've been learning a lot about how to retain that feeling even when smaller dual 27 designs are not being made. And that's what I found in the Izzo. And while the 29er Jeffsy probably wouldn't interest me, the MX version with that zippier rear end could be... an ideal compromise. I want my 2mm rear center reduction and my 275 wheel dang it! But given how tiny those changes are, longer travel and heavier weight can definitely sap the energy out of a bike. (these would likely be core 2s/alloy). I demo'd the carbon Capra in MX thinking I'd like it. Hated it. Slappin a smaller wheel on the back can't make that thing not a motorhome of a bike.

And I can't afford the new Optic lol

If you're looking for a bigger bike with a BMX feel, maybe check out Kona. And don't be afraid to slap an angleset on a bike to steepen the HTA on a bike. Super slack bikes just wanna hug the ground and eat up your pop IMO.

That's what I own. Sadly going forward it looks like Kona is abandoning dual 27 as well, and while they have some decent 29ers they're not exactly built like an Izzo. In so far as they stopped the amazing Process 111. The Hei Hei is... Similar but more of a longer travel XC than a short travel trail bike in some ways.

But ya sadly the new Kona I got is a bit too much bike (still fun) and the experience I had was... Iffy. Hoping they restructure and everything goes back to normal but... Even when the internal company is fixed the bikes seem to be more generic now. 2015-2020 Konas were some of the best mountain bikes ever made for having fun on a budget. Hands down.

I've got an Izzo Blaze, which heads in the Jeffsy direction. It's just about capable enough for some air time, but comes alive on flatter trails where it's about slicing and dicing between the trees. Not necessarily the greatest pedaller TBH, could probably do with a bit more anti squat
