Thought I would show my 99 GT Lobo (Large) which is rare as they all seem to crack that I picked up recently while on a trip to the UK, I have big plans for this one so watch this space.

I had a carbon version when I was about 14-15, and it was pretty awesome. 

Handled awesome, but had the stiffness of a wet noodle.

I ran the cnc machines that made all of the linkage parts on that bike- some of the last GT's truly handmade in the USA. Back then GT had their R&D facility in Longmont, CO, and that's where these bikes were dreamed up and built, in addition to where their titanium frames were handmade. I worked for Brent Trimble (former partner and owner of Kestrel bikes and Trimble bikes from the late 80's and early 90's- the original carbon fiber frame builder and wizard pioneer) who designed and built GT's Superbike USA olympic timetrial frames as well as all of their XCR carbon frame molds and the aluminum suspension linkages for all their full suspension frames. I'd burn one in the morning, ride up Flagstaff (from N Boulder) to work in Brent's shop right next to Walker Ranch, take a long lunch break to do a lap on Walker, run the mill's and lathes, cut 3inch thick steel plate steel with rental cement saws (which we always destroyed), polish finished frame molds, burn another and ride home. Did that part time for a year or so before GT was sold off and the Longmont facility was shuttered.  Good times!

Lusted so hard at Nationals over that thing!!!
I remember:
1. Size Small frame bottomed tire on the seat mast & could bring you to a dead stop.
2. Rear shocks lasted a weekend at best before spraying your butt
3. Shift cable routing would shift gears on you at full cycle multiple times
4.  Those wheels are in phenomenal condition
5. Official team tires where Michelin Comp 16's (probably all dry rotted by now)
6. Needs red Shimano DX clipless pedals to maximize originality
7. Tall crown Boxxer - all of us had to hunt that damn crown down every year
8. Paper thin stanchions. Don't you dare scrape a rock
