It's not often that we see innovation in the grip world, but occasionally something new comes along that has the potential to change the game. VP Components, a brand most known for their pedals, is using a new liquid silicone material called SiMO to create lock-on grips that feel incredible and offer more friction โ meaning you don't need to grip the bike as hard to hang on, improving control and potentially reducing arm pump. The actual design of the grip is also very well thought out. VP Brand Manager Erik Saunders filled us in on all the details:
"In dry conditions SiMO provides 26% higher friction than typical TPR premium rubber grips, but the benefits of SiMO increase when things get slippery. SiMO is very hydrophobic, which means that rain and sweat only slightly impact its coefficient of friction. Compared to premium rubber grips made from TPR, SiMO provides 52% more friction in wet conditions."
