Welcome mountain bikers. Mike Ferrentino, today's guest, has been a mentor and inspiration of mine and is one of my favorite humans. Whenever we cross paths, I always feel lucky that mountain biking has given me the chance to meet people like him. He's passionate, funny, crusty, opinionated but transparent and real. I think I bought my Tallboy LTc after I saw the video of Mike in something like a hangar simply explaining how the bike was cracking. At the time they did a launch video (I don’t know if it was from Mr Spomer) which was so cool. Sure it wasn’t six figures video !

100% the best podcast yet. Although he doesn't know it, back in his Bike Trip days, Mr. Ferrentino played a large part in the development of my love for Mountain Bikes, Mountain Biking and the culture that surrounds it. Thank you Mike

There are a couple references in that podcast that I probably should've thought out more thoroughly before opening my mouth. I called the town of Portola a shithole, which is not a fair assessment at all, and in light of a certain president and his recent use of that same word to define certain countries, I wish I could take that one back. And the dentures comment, I probably should have explained that. When I was going to Waihi South School at the ripe old age of 8, there was a dental "care" facility AT the school, and we kids all had regular visits to what we called "the murder house", where they just loved to chew holes in our young teeth with real slow drills and then fill those holes with mercury amalgam. An alarming percentage of my parent's friends in the 1970s had full sets of dentures by the time they were in their 40s. It was just how things were. So, fast forward to 2012, and there are a whole lot of 70 and 80 year old citizens with dentures down there. It wasn't meant as any sort of slam, more a nod to a certain cultural fatalism that exists among a strong generation of tough as nails folk who are now stoically but proudly living their twilight years.

By far my favorite inside line to date. Dudes like Ferrentino make up the historical soul of the sport and rustle up some pretty fond memories of the old days. Grumpy, scrappy, no BS and willing to talk the good and bad honestly. Didn't leave me with a spamy throw-up taste in my mouth like after listening to some of the look-at-me marketing guys so prevalent in the industry.

Awesome! I can't wait to listen to one of my fav mountain biking creeps.I am happy that Vernon moved onto PB, but hearing him and Ferrentino banter on their Bible videos was great.
