Started as a 170/170. Broke some stuff, swapped some stuff. Ran 200/170. Eventually made it 200/200. It's my do it all. 650 lb Fox spring at 170 mm, 600ish lb on the Sprindex with 200 mm. I did an 85 km overnight bikepacking trip on it and then rode shuttles a couple of days later. 

Brakes aren't working so hot right now, but bike is pretty dialed besides. Heavy and long long. No idea how much it weighs. 

Can't help but wonder if a medium would be ideal as the DH version. Manuals and wheelies really well, climbs ok, harder to slap a turn. Really fun bike for sure.

Are you using stock bushguard with wrp yoke (200mm travel)? 
On their website is stated that it is not compatible. 
How does the Bomber CR shock compare to stock shock (performance)?
Btw Realy cool looking machine 😍 and I think mine is gonna be going this direction as well.

Have you tried running an air shock on the Range? 
Also, some people state going to 200mm mode at the back demands a higher spring rate, you’re on the opposite - how come?

Haven't tried air, but I'm sure it would be fine if it's a large can one that fits the shock tunnel. Norco has very little info about what fits and doesn't. I'm not sure what you've read about going up in spring rate unless it's related to the mullet wheel link. The 29er one that I have would require the same rate and just give you a little more travel at the end as it just bottoms out later, or lower like I've done in order to have a little more sag and make it feel more like a DH bike. The Mx wheel link changes the leverage if I remember right, but it would not make sense to go up a rate with the 29 link. The only other thing I can think of is that spring rates are generally wrong, so each brand and each spring may be off a little bit. I got a sprindex bc i don't really care what the number is, but want to be able to consistently go up or down. Air shock would solve that issue. I've read about people going significantly lower, but I haven't found that to be the case or required for my riding area at this point. Good questions!

Ahhhh good question. I'd probs get the MX link so the bb doesn't drop much. It's already pretty low and you sometimes (low speed stuff) hit the link guard. Then 200 mm 27.5 is pretty close in A2C with a 170 29er, and you can always put your crowns a little higher to make the difference and run a similar geo. I'm running the 46mm offset on the ohlins, but I'm sure it's fine with whatever. The ohlins is nice bc it has a flat and a drop crown included, but it's not cheap. My friend is running Fezzari Timp Peak as a full 27.5 with a Suntour Rux and loves it too. I'm sure you can do it a few ways, but I'd probs run the Mx.

You're right that the MX link corrects for the BB height and subsequent changes. But a dual crown at 200 in 29 increases static bb and slackens the HTA compared to 170 29er. I'm sure you can go either way and I think it would be pretty slack still. Two ways to go about it in my mind. 1, try to keep the back geo the same using the MX link, then try to get the front geo the same with 200 27.5 dual crown and/or 10mm headset bottom cup like Pivot or GT kinda do. 2. Run the 29er link and then yeah the whole bike drops and only the BB is low. It's totally up to you to think about how low is too low. Normally I'm cool with pretty dang low, but it depends on where you're using it. If you're riding fast I wouldn't care, but steep slow terrain with lots of rollover stuff you're possibly going to bash the lower link guard more. Probably fine either way honestly. I think it would be super super fun as a full 27 or even a MX. Right now it's great but it just feels huge, like I almost would be interested in a medium instead. Small Wheels would probs do the trick though. I'm not convinced you need a long reach, long wheelbase, and a slack HTA. They are all connected, but makes for a tank.

So yeah, it’s possible to do it with both links and see what works best! I’ve got experience with such mods with the kid’s bike: a YT Capra 27.5, but it has 26er wheels on it with a 170mm fork (a 160mm 27.5 fork that can go up to 170 when in 26er-mode). To top it off, it also has offset bushes on the shock for another full degree slacker HA. It hits the pedals on the road, if you’re turning and the inward-for-the-turn pedal is in low position, but when it gets on a downhill trail - OMG it transforms into a ridiculously capable beast with the low HA and low BB. 
As for the size of the bike - i’m on an M-size anyway as i’m not tall, so that’s not a problem. My current bike is 20-30mm shorter in reach than the modern M-sizes, so going to a M-size Range or any other modern superenduro capable of withstanding double-crowns (such a short list, damn it) will still provide me with an even longer bike (and me, being a regular rider, will be more happy with more high-speed stability over maneuverability).
