General Info
2024 UPDATE:
Skittles as I now call her, has seen some upgrades since I built her back in 2022. Biggest changes are the XX T-Type groupset (XX SL derailleur with the XX alloy cage and 165mm XX cranks) and the custom built wheelset with Berd Hawk 30 rims laced with Berd spokes to silver Chris King hubs. The oneup dropper post ended up going onto my Slash, and I replaced it with a Bikeyoke Revive MAX which has been butter smooth through a year of hard use. I've also swapped to lighter weight Magura rotors and installed a Cane Creek Hellbender 70 Lite headset. The 5DEV pedals have been grippy and the low profile minimizes pedal strikes (but they still happen ). The XPEL PPF has handled everything thrown at it well, but could use replacement in some locations at this point. Overall this bike has been great to me and has been plenty capable for local trail riding in New England!
ORIGINAL POST:
This bike started life as a 2022 Trek Top Fuel 9.9 XX1 AXS, but I've "downgraded" all the wireless parts to good old cable actuated components. The 2023 Pike Ultimate and Magura MT7 HC3 brakes paired with Magura MDR-P rotors round out this build. I wrapped practically the entirety of the frame with XPEL automotive PPF. I did not intend for this bike to be the lightest bike out there, but instead to be a short travel trail ripper that can handle long descents with ease.
Weight was measured with pedals and bottle cage, but with internal storage items removed.
