After years of watching world cups, I still don't know what the whistles are. It can't be hecklers, can someone explain?

It tells the fans that a rider is coming, so they can make sure they aren't on the course for any reason.

Also, by having a whistler every 10-20s of the track the marshals can identify if and where a rider crashed more easily to help them or stop the race.

Check how much more in proportion with his bike Minnaar looks compared with Gee who looks like he's a size down from ideal.

1. Wow. Watched twice already.
2. OMG it looks slippery.
3. Holy jesus these guys are good.
4. I'd almost reckon it the slower pace this year actually almost looks less dangerous than what went down in 2015.
