Elevated Trail Design-Briar Chapel mtb trail 13

An edit from our latest project in Briar Chapel development near Chapel Hill, NC. This was a great design/build in which we constructed a mile of mtb-specific trail designed to be ridden in both directions. The result is a lot of fun packed into a small residential area. Riders/Builders: Peter Mills, Andrew Mueller, Andrew Sams, Marshall Thompson.

Honestly, living in Richmond (about 2.5 hrs. north) I would love to see a trail like this. Our local scene seems to be stuck in the same dormant style of riding and would love to see something with a couple of berms and possible areas to catch some air. Elevated, if you want to come build up here I would happily welcome it.

My favorite part is that all these 'mountain bikers' would whine like little girls if they got a tour of the goods. Then they'd be bitching that there was NO flow. Bring your own flow boys.

Hey, Thanks for checking out our video. No worries, we hate "flow" trails also. Thats why our trail is full of rocks, roots and TTF's, those sections are not highlighted in our video. You can follow our Facebook or website and see the pictures of this trail @Briar ChapeI. I usually ride a trail before passing judgement on a few video clips. Go ride your bike.

Looks like they came in with the philosophy: why spend 6.5k on a fancy carbon FS bike made to tame the chaos when you can spend 1.5k on a very nice bike and 5k on a trail without any real chaos, but looks pretty fun (at least for a short while)...

Wonder what it was about my post that was found negative. Do VitalMTB members really like those 6.5k carbon bikes? I was implying that if people spent as much money on trails as they did on bikes, there could be a lot of these around.

Congrats on the new trail. Hope you guys get more work. The world needs more legal fun-to-ride trails. A man demands variety and trails designed with bikes in mind ride much better than the standard public multi-use ones.
