Lenzerheide opens its mouth, shows its teeth and they're sharp. Downhill riders get their first helping of a tasty but tricky World Champs course in Lenzerheide today. Sven Martin, @maddogboris and Dan Hearn avoid the flying bikes and bodies to tell the tales of the day.

Loic hasn't had the season he was hoping for, but the last time this happened, he won World Champs. @maddogboris
Jack didn't have much tweaking to do today for a favorable bike set-up. They were pretty close to perfect starting out. #experience -Sven Martin
Aaron Gwin up early for practice and lapping it out. John Hall in audio. -Sven Martin
Greg Minnaar sometimes takes a while to settle into a track and after a steady start to training, it'll be interesting to see how he performs over the next couple of days. -Dan Hearn
Brook Macdonald drifting at Mach 1000. -Dan Hearn
F%&§ Yeah Blenki! @maddogboris
Marcelo actually with a good save considering all the other crashes that went down here today. -Sven Martin
Henry Fitzgerald in the Canadian flannel making easy work of the tricky stump line in the rock garden. -Sven Martin
Magnus Manson smashing one of the many wide, rough, fast turns that make up most of the upper reaches of this track. Finn and Magnus *discuss* lines in audio. -Sven Martin
Finn Iles radial railing in some classic Lenzerheide berms. -Dan Hearn
There's a special atmosphere at World Champs; a more laid back vibe but also an electric tension in the air. Kye A'hern in audio. -Dan Hearn
Rock garden victim #321. Tim Flooks in audio on being prepared. -Dan Hearn
You need French timing to keep track of all the French lines. You also need a lot of staff. -Sven Martin
Sven to Kade in start house, "Kade do something!"<br><br />
Kade, "What?"<br><br />
Sven, "Anything, I trust you."<br><br />
Trust is a beautiful thing. -Sven Martin<br />
Eddie living up to his eagle/Towball status. Sending the hip to berm, reaching further than most on to the grass, setting him up for the berm. -Sven Martin
Loris leaned back. Every time we come back here, this inside line drop gets higher steeper and more savage. -Sven Martin
Vali Höll sends the first tricky rocks first run out of the gate this morning. -Sven Martin
Tahnee in a sweet custom kit ducking tape and trying different lines this morning. -Sven Martin
Martin Maes sending it semi sideways, about to tomahawk into his teammate Wyn Masters. -Sven Martin
George Kerr walking back up to the lift after losing out to the rocks up top. -Sven Martin
Focus and purpose was evident with Rachel Atherton today. Making every run count. -Sven Martin
Vali with textbook style at such a young age. -Sven Martin
Dan Hearn sweet talking a friendly marshal out of her lunch. -Sven Martin
Swiss style. -Sven Martin
Matt Walker (UK) tackling the rocks. -Sven Martin
Greg Minnaar won here most recently just 0.2 seconds ahead of Troy. Can he do it again? -Sven Martin
Mik Hannah full gas on the fastest part of the course. -Sven Martin
Conditions rapidly changed towards the end of practice. Not all riders did runs in these conditions. -Sven Martin
Theo Erlangsen hanging out as if its a Stellenbosch Dark Fest. -Sven Martin
Dak Norton takes a spill. -Sven Martin
Amaury was one of the few out there to keep lapping when the rain came down. Much like he did during other wet practice sessions at World Cups he won. Coincidence? Or doing his homework? -Sven Martin
The fastest section of the track. Last year a couple riders (including Danny Hart) took the inside line...this year we haven't seen many trying it. @maddogboris
Luckily the whipshow at the bridge jump didn't change. @maddogboris
Rainy scrubs. I could shoot 'em all day long, especially when it's Loris Vergier @maddogboris
Amaury Pierron was one of the last top riders on the hill today. He will be prepared for a rainy race...just in case! @maddogboris
Myriam Nicole was pushing hard today. We can expect a rad Elite Women's race on Sunday! @maddogboris
Kade Edwards definitely thinking about skatepark tricks right now. #gupordie @maddogboris
That's what teammates are for! Tahnee showing Jamie how to survive the rockgarden. @maddogboris
Cecile Ravanel watching her training buddy, Vali Höll, in the rock garden. They were training at most World Cups together and have even spent time in between the races at Cecile's place in France. @maddogboris
Mille Johnset and Paula Zibasa had an interesting crash. Luckily Paula is okay and was seen back in the pits after her little helicopter flight. @maddogboris
Line spys and time-keepers everywhere on track. @maddogboris
Amaury cleaning up the rocky mess he may or may not have created with his head. Safety first! @maddogboris
Danny Hart is here to win. That's it! @maddogboris
Morning light for the #panshotfriday post @maddogboris
Tracey Hannah did probably the most runs in her group today @maddogboris
And so she also got a pan after the berm in the rock garden. @maddogboris
Thibaut Daprela had some off-track experience today. Maybe because he was going so fast already?! @maddogboris
Go and check Troy's Instagram and you can see what came out of the GoPro on his stem. #magicdisappearingsticks @maddogboris
When you think you got a bit different shot of Mick Hannah and you just figure out while editing that it's not him. @maddogboris
Rachel leading the pack into morning training. -Dan Hearn
If you see 2 line choices, the Frenchies see 3! -Dan Hearn

...the inevitable happens! -Dan Hearn
-Dan Hearn

There is no shortage of fast Swiss riders, like Basil Weber here, hoping for glory on Sunday. -Dan Hearn
Back wheel enthusiast and fashion victim, Finn Iles is never short of stoke to race. -Dan Hearn
One of the most efficient helicopter pickups we have witnessed. Trees and gondola cables were not a problem and Paula Zibasa was out in a matter of seconds. Thankfully it was a precautionary measure and she will be riding tomorrow. -Dan Hearn
The classic-yet-still-terrifying Lenzerheide high-speed berm - check Vital RAW to get some idea of the speed riders are hitting this thing. -Dan Hearn
