First Look: 2015 YT Industries TUES Carbon DH Bike

Introducing the 2015 YT TUES CF.

Markus Flossmann, YT's founder, didn't start a bike company to play CEO behind his desk. Launching the new bike in Malaga, Spain he could mostly be found wrenching or riding. Only a mid-week crash managed to slow him down for a bit. The YT guys work hard and play hard.

Years of development about to be unleashed from the bike boxes and put in the hands of a posse of eager journalists.

Pick any color, as long as it's not black. Henry Ford would turn over in his grave. White or green for the Comp version, blue or red for the Pro.

We did our best to impress the people of Benalmadena with our carbon wonders, but it takes more than a little bike tech to move the people of Southern Spain. Manana, perhaps.

Borrowing heavily from its Capra stablemate in the looks department, but adding DH brawn and muscle, the new TUES CF leaves little doubt as to its intentions.

Bryan Regnier, YT's enduro team rider was on hand to show us journalists how the TUES CF was meant to be ridden. As of first light on day one, he looked comfortable.

Quick little check to see if the TUES CF flies as well as it rolls. Apparently, it does.

SRAM's excellent X01DH group on transmission duties for the Pro version. Updated internal cable routing out back looks stealth and keeps the cable out of harm's way. Aluminum chainstays, chosen because of the exposure this part suffers.

YT's V4L linkage delivers a very compliant ride, with plenty of midstroke support and bottom out resistance. We felt up to speed pretty quickly riding the new TUES, the bike is easy to come to terms with and particularly rewarding over rough ground.

Enduro? DH? Moto? Bryan mixes it all up in the name of good times.

The TUES AL benefits from a rework and revised geo for 2015 as well. It offers pretty spectacular value with many of the characteristics of the TUES CF.

YT's handy work stands up to scrutiny. The finish is top notch, and the bikes are assembled with care. Ready to rip, straight out of the box.

e*thirteen's new LG1r spiderless crankset and chainguide combo proved to be up to the job. Temporary, non-production stickers on the downtube protector did not.

Where worlds meet. The Gibraltar Rock on the right, with Morocco's Rif Mountains on the left. YT hasn't crossed the Gibraltar Strait yet, but it has finally found its way to North America and Oceania.

One for the knob-turners. The BOS Idylle RaRe FCV (quite the mouthful!) offers lots of adjustability. We stuck close to the factory recommended settings, which will get you out on the trails and enjoying the new bike quickly.

SRAM's new Guide brake delivers lots of power with trademark modulation. We were unable to fault them even on 15-minute-plus descents, huge camera bag and all.

With Cam Zink now running YT's North American business, it came as no surprise to find Sensus grips on the new TUES.

We were hosted in Malaga by Switchbacks DH (www.switch-backs.com). Danny showed us the trails, and showed us all up big time in the process too!

Another mountain top, another trail awaits. We did our best to put the new bikes through their paces, taking on everything from bermed flow trails to big, rough, and loose natural trails - the new TUES was at ease everywhere.

Thankfully, we never needed to call the ambulancias...

The TUES CF is available to order as of today, with first deliveries scheduled for April. If last year's Capra launch is anything to go by, you'd better act quickly to reserve yours if you want one any time soon.
