I run a custom 2113x60mm shock (modified 216x63) on my mega 290 and get about 170mm travel, it must be catching on!

should be about 485mm. Stock medium is 435. If that's the case, his bikes reach sits right between a Nicoalai Geometron Long and Longer, and 5mm longer than a Medium Pole Stamina.

Sure he could have just run the large...? In any case if they increased the reach by 50mm on all sizes then it’s now a massive bike and the small would now be almost as long as the old large!? I don’t really wanna open a can of worms about sizing preferences but as a small-medium rider and a lover of the Mega this is bad news as the bikes are now too big for me thats if this 50mm thing is correct of course and makes its way to the production bikes

Pretty sure this 50mm is a typo. Compare the pic to the current L & XL and it’s nowhere as long.

according to the nuke proof rep at a recent demo i went to, they are bringing out a "medium long" size. so a medium with a reach closer to a current large, but with same stand over as the current medium.

They were one of the very first to have a small sized seat tube on a medium frame and also one of the first to do steeper seat angles. They’ve had their geometry dialled since before being a geometry geek was even a thing.
But a 16.5” seat tube and a ~470mm (current large) reach? Like Ralph Fiennes said - “that’s going over board mate”

I bet that’s the one. 450mm reach on the medium makes sense. Now I’m more interested to see if they’ve finally addressed the leverage curve. Nobody does that old school regressive-progressive stuff anymore. It’s 2019 NP and that shizzle didn’t work in 2012 come oooooon with the leverage curve already. Jeez

Its not really regressive progressive, at least not like the old SC stuff used to be. Its pretty much flat off the top then progressive. I'd rock this for sure.

Completely understand where you’re coming from Mr Brines. Pretty much flat isn’t flat but theres no need for me to get semantic, my point is that the LC hasn’t worked since its insheeption in 2012 (actually 2011 come to think of it?) and they’ve done nothing to change it despite me emailing every other day to tell them how much it doesn’t work. If all they’ve done this time around is made the flippin thing longer I shall be quite disappointed to see a bike that was once innovative and forward thinking reduced to the “MOAR REACH” sales tactic.
Better fire em a quick email, I don’t know if they’ll read this.

I hear you, but I don't think its a deal breaker. One big reason is all the suspension tuners and engineers I know (okay, so I only know one of each) say it works well without needing to do any crazy valving or similar. MegNeg air can plus a RS Super Deluxe - Boom. Its awesome!

We all know Sam could ride anything, but he doesn't seem to struggle in the gnar with this setup...

Unless it's the wheelbase that's around 50mm longer, if they slackened it out by 2 degrees and maintained the same reach it would account for a considerable portion of that 50mm.
Also worth bearing in mind is when they overforked the stock 290 frame it would have effectively shortened the reach a bit along with a few other bits like the chainstays(only a tiny amount really).

A lot of riders have been over shocking their 290s and I’ve seen a few rawed too. It’s like they were in the Nukeproof owners forum and said “hey that’s a great idea for Sam” lol.
Be interested to see just what they’ve done to the geo and linkage. Guess we have to wait until autumn.
