Depends how much of the race is left. If I can get down to the end of the stage just riding it flat on the cushcore, then I'll do that and get a new tire put on in the pits. Otherwise I'll have to rip out the cushcore, slap in the tube, wear the cushcore around my neck, and get down to the pits.

This was maybe the biggest thing I did not like about Cushcore in that if you flat and have to put in a tube you will be wrestling with it and swearing profusely as your riding buddies or competitors disappear. Granted it should not happen much, but when it does you're FOF'd. I moved onto Huck Norris and have had no issues. I did recently shove a Nukeproof ARD insert on my hardtail's rear wheel, so we'll see if it was worth it.

I'm with ya on that. That's the reason i went with DH tires and aluminum rims. I want bulletproof, worry-free race runs. Hopefully the only time i use my tube is when giving it to another racer.

Tbh, It's been more than five years since I regularly carried a tube with me. I always have a pump and/or CO2 ) and tire plugs (all of the above via the EDC steer tube tool and pump) and have made use of those occasionally. About the only time I carry a tube is going into deep woods/back country as my racing daze are firmly in the rearview.

cush core front and rear, with spare tube in case of puncture ? You just throw away your cush core while puting in the tube 🤔
