General Info
This bike is built around a Nicolai G1 frame with a longer reach - right between M and L - as well as a G16 headtube to fit a zero stack headset. In addition to that, it is fitted with a custom pair of Santa Cruz Reserve wheels with Chris King hubs and a Fast suspension Fenix shock which has a custom valving.
My main goal with this bike was to assemble a bike from brands that manufacture products in house - in Europe when possible as that’s where I live - favouring small brands with outstanding products and the ability to get direct interactions with their engineers or owners (Nicolai, Fast, Burgtec) over big OEM ones (Shimano and Maxxis being the most notable exceptions ). Of course, a bike is still meant to be fun and perform - to some extent - so reliability and performance of the parts where obviously a driver as well. My goal being to keep this bike as long as possible, repairing instead of throwing away.
