I spend time speaking directly with the current minority owner often. I know what happened to make the owner and founder of the company itself abandon a brand that is badged (I'm sure he is sickened by it) with his name. Those bikes should come with a warning label that "Morewood" is a sticker, nothing more. The original owners were well respected.

Morewoodkid knows Patrick better than most. He worked at Morewood with Patrick, and his company distributed the brand in South Africa.

Yes, things may not have panned out as everyone had hoped. But it doesn't make the bikes any less awesome. Go look at my bike checks and you'll see that all 4 of my Morewoods are from when Patrick was still there. I stand to be corrected but to my knowledge, this very one was designed and built by Patrick himself. And I have spoken to Patrick about it, asking advice on what travel to run on it. As for my Sukuma and it's custom paint job, Patrick came over to me at an enduro race earlier this year to have a closer look and chatted to me a bit about my design idea.

So once again, yes it's sad that he is no longer involved. However it went down is his business. But I'd like to think that when he sees one of his creations he thinks back with pride, and then he looks forward at his new venture and continues to design the awesome bikes that we have come to expect from him.

Never buy More wood. The majority owner is a shark and took the owner and creator so bad. Complete hustle. Never trust the new owner...ever.

And if any Morewood bike ever has issues, you WILL NOT be dealing with Patrick, but the guy who has his company and that's bad. But keep trying...

Then it's a good thing it's not your bike to worry about

But yeah, I have dealt with the workshop manager at Morewood on numerous occasions and only had great service. Spare parts to me overnight (Yes, I live in South Africa, so it's pretty convenient).

In fact for around $120 the factory will replace all the bearings, check alignment, check welds, re-powdercoat and decal any old Morewood. Bearings alone on my Makulu cost me about $70 to do myself. So yeah once again, that's pretty good service. How many other brands in the US will do that for you?

When one buys a Giant and there are issues, do you think Tony Lo or King Liu will address them for you? No, you'll probably get some sales person (who may know very little about bikes) from the local distributors. Even take a smaller brand... like Intense. Do you think Jeff Steber personally handles all tech questions and complaints? (heck, there is no Intense distributor in South Africa and people still by them... cos they're great bikes).

Moral of the story, yes, Patrick Morewood himself may not personally oversee any of my future concerns, but I have dealt with the engineering and workshop staff at Morewood and they are very capable of offering great service.

I rode all those bikes. The first one also had a linkage. The second got a repaint to the red. The third bike was Mick's. Sweet rigs!
