Kovarik had just come off his first season in America and Leigh Donovan, who started the first official Intense factory team, had spoken with Chris at the end of the 99' season (when Chris was team mates with Ronning on the Qranc team riding GT bikes). She linked Chris and Steber up and the rest is history. Kovarik has now been on Intense bikes for 11 years, the longest in gravity history.
