The gate-turned-bleachers. A monster crowd does the wave under the command of announcer, Mike Kreger (18th place pro!). Since posting up the USAC statement about the MTX gate, a lot of you have said the riders made the call and the USAC officials listened. Well, I attended both rider meetings (Thursday and Friday) and no rider expressed concern over the pro gate (FOR OR AGAINST). I know officials were getting individual opinions (for and against) from MTX riders, but why was nothing said at the meetings, in a communal format? Had MTX riders attended and/or spoken up at the meetings about the pro gate (other than Ross Milan, who asked about getting actual gate practice time and Melissa Buhl asking about the chalk lines on the smaller gate), maybe the MTX gate fiasco could have been handled better and USAC wouldn't get all the blame.
