Why is it a surprise? Scott confirmed that the new Spark will have metric shocks and they have been showing it with a FOX shock with trunion mount at the aircan. And the new 29 Slash also has a trunion mount X2, which would indicate a metric shock as well (given Trek's range moving to metric shocks).
