Kona Prototype 27 Mode 3

Image

Kona has been working hard on this prototype DH bike, which has actually been seeing time on the trails since December. The big story here is adjustability: the bike can handle both 27.5" and 29" wheels, and there are some neat geometry adjust features as well.

Kona has been tight-lipped about the headset, but from what we can tell, it has an oval insert which should allow for both length and angle adjustments to be made. Pretty interesting concept, if that is the case.

There is enough room in the chainstays to run either wheelsize, and the "flipchip" in the rocker pivot allows you to adjust the BB height according to the wheel size. Either wheel size can be used in either of the two chain stay settings depending on the rider's preferences.
