The DME has a special class that recognizes the standard mode of transport for the trail builders. The Hardtail class is super-hard-fought and has been won by former Wairoa Gorge trail builders every year its been contested. This year Flo De Vries posted a time that would have placed him third in 16-29 men to retain the Engorged award he won last year.
