I rode an early gearbox Nicolai at Sea Otter years ago when they had just arrived. They had done a great job of making things look pretty but hadn't thought much, if at all, about the suspension. It bobbed all aver the place. It was almost unridable. I just so happened to have taken my ride in front of a beaming US sales rep who was talking it up to someone. I awkwardly rode back and he asked what I thought, I told him the truth in front of his guest. I've never been hated so hard through the eyes of another human being.
