Judged events are never easy to call, especially a competition like Rampage where riding and lines are so varied. The Rampage judging panel consisted of former Rampage competitors like Randy Spangler (also a course builder) and Josh Bender, but also included professional judges from the snowboarding world.

We grabbed competitors and MTB industry players after the event yesterday to weigh in the results. Semenuk, The Claw, Sam Reynolds, Aggy and more share their thoughts.

Yep, judges have favorites. Favorite riders, favorite lines, etc... If you're not one of their fav riders on one of their fav lines, you might as well not even ride.

So i guess they could all say deep down they aren't happy with the results in one way or another.

Ok besides Spangler and Bender who are the other judges? Do they ride? Are they same judges for all FMB? Seems we should have MTB judges over snowboard judging. I don't see any surfers judging skate contests and visa versa. I understand it's tricky with politics friendships and sponsor and other affiliations conflicts but if each judges score was published with judges name then highs and lows thrown out we might see some accurate judging.
I understand it's still a tough predicament judging such an event like Rampage with all the variables lines and different rider approaches and styles and subjective interpretation of runs.
Actually I doubt controversy will cease with an all MTB judging line up, I guess maybe more riders will choose Fess series or video parts instead of judged interpretive events.

Semenuk nailed it, IMHO.

I would never want to judge any comp...let alone Rampage. The problem is the judges - as skilled, etc. as they may be at riding - wouldn't ride half of what these guys are riding, therefore they can't truly fathom the sheer tech-factor some of the riders are attempting.

The top-3 weren't all Red Bull riders...actually it was balanced between Rockstar, Red Bull AND Monster. The only common thread is they're all FEST riders. Was there a bias towards them? I don't know.

One thing can't be denied - Norbs got engaged!!

Genon before Zink.............I am from Belgium and a real fan of Thommy G. but gotta be honest, the run of Cam was way tricky.

I've watched the replay and just cannot see how Aggy scored higher than Semenuk or Zink. No doubt Aggy's run was awesome but Semenuks was pretty much faultless, huge, more tricks, the same level of gnar on his lines. Just don't get it. Great event though! Love to see it at a new venue in 2016, Gobi Desert?

we need to hear just one judge actually defend Zink's 6th place. Just one. So we can get a laugh out of it, at least. #totalBS #ZINKWUZROBBED

The 7th picture of Brendan is through the stratosphere. The essence of the shot with the back flip and the mountain range in the foreground is breathtaking.
