Crankbrothers celebrated their 20-year anniversary in style this week, inviting several media representatives and their impressive roster of Pro riders to a mountain top mansion in Monterey where they unveiled the new Mallet DH pedals.
Based around the same clip design introduced on the Eggbeater in 2003, the new Mallet DH sees several updates that bring it up to speed with the rest of the Crankbrothers pedal lineup. This includes the ability to customize the interface between the pedal and your shoes using polyurethane "traction pads" of various heights, new chamfered edges to reduce the impact of rock strikes, a wider 57mm q-factor, eight adjustable pins per side, and a ribbed body for extra traction when unclipped.
Crankbrothers has had a huge following in the downhill world, with several top Pro athletes choosing the pedal over alternatives. Listen in for Greg Minnaar's take on the new pedals and see them in action:
They are backed by a five year warranty and are available now in two versions, including a baller Mallet DH 11 with titanium wings, dual-chamfered edges, and a rad double-anodized gold and black finish.
