​We spotted the prototypes at the World Cups earlier in the season, and now the production version has landed: meet the all-new Intense M16C. Featuring a monocoque UD carbon front and rear triangle and rolling on 27.5” wheels,  the M16C pumps out between 215 -240 mm travel via  the "JS Tuned" virtual pivot point suspension linkage.

The new M16C makes use of Intense's suspension layout, to deliver between 8 and 9 inches of travel. The frame comes in 2 colorways, the rad red shown here, and a stealthy all-black version.

Internal cable routing keeps everything clean.

Internal cable routing ports up front double as fork stops.

Intense also presented a special edition Shaun Palmer model of the alloy M16, produced in very limited quantities. This is how happy the man himself was to see it:

If nobody buys crap bikes...Intense could make bikes in big factory numbers and get price cut in half...

...that will be the biggest ADVANCE in Mtb History !!!

I think you'll find it's the other way round. Santa Cruz own the paten right to the VPP linkage. Intense pay to use the same thing to in hind site intence are the copy cats.

Wrong. The intellectual property in the VPP design was co developed and is co owned by both companies. I'm about as tired of having to point this out as I am of telling people that no, Ford does not own Cummins.

is that a mud guard all the way down the rear triangle to prevent small stones from getting between the lower link and the rear triangle?

I kinda feel bad for the people who bought the aluminum M16's. I personally perfer aluminum DH bikes, but the M16 carbon does look better than the alloy version.

That's pretty much true for all of Intense's bikes. All their Aluminium bikes have really ugly welds.

This is were I'd have to disagree with you Flyboy77. Intense's aluminium bike welds are the BEST welds I've ever seen. There is a big difference from a clean looking weld and a strong weld. And Intense pulls off the best looking STRONG welds. I'm not saying this cause I own an M9. I'm saying it cause I know my way around a TIG.

As somebody who worked as a mechanic at a (former) Intense Dealer, I must disagree wholeheartedly. They were some of the worst quality controlled bikes we ever came across.

Not really. Maybe for a park/play bike, but certainly not for a dedicated race bike. To my point, Minnaar is running nearly 18" CSs on his V10. I think 17.5" offers a great mix of "locked in" turns while still being able to get them around tighter corners. Shorter, you lose leverage and the bike start to be a bit skittish. Which is cool if you are playing, not so cool if you are racing.
