YT Mob’s Sian A’Hern Will Step Back From World Cup and Focus On Crankworx Series in 2025

For racers from the southern hemisphere World Cup racing presents a huge challenge, with a long calendar of races in Europe, traveling thousands of miles away from home for months at a time, all whilst performing at your peak in an extremely high pressure sport. This film follows Sian A'Hern's 2024 World Cup season and her battle against the clock.

After returning to World Cup racing over the past 2 years, Sian and The YT MOB have decided to re-focus and target various races outside of World Cups (Crankworx, Continental Series and US Series). Sian will still receive support and continue to race under the flag of YT whilst she takes on this exciting challenge.

“It’s such an exciting change for me, and I feel I am really following what is right for me, and aligning this decision with my ‘why’ I do what I do. I feel a fire in my belly again for racing and just a big part of me is really keen for a new direction and a different motivation.” - Sian A’hern, YT MOB Downhill Athlete

“Whilst World Cup racing is the pinnacle of our sport, there are so many other opportunities out there for riders. We’re excited to continue supporting Sian as she steps into this new challenge, and we’re looking forward to seeing her back on the podium!” - Gunnar Franke, YT MOB Race Team Manager

How did the decision to step back from World Cup racing come about?
I guess not enjoying World Cup racing as I would have loved to. Something about racing World Cups never felt natural and at the end of the day I want to be 100% on what ever I do. After speaking with the team it felt like it was the right decision to follow my heart and passions and go with what is right for me. I am so grateful the MOB are 100% behind me.

What are you most looking forward too?
I think being able to bring all of me to this new direction and really go back to my roots of racing mountain bikes. Plus just the new scene and all the exciting opportunities and great things that will come from this change. and I must say just being able to ride my bike more!!

Is there any standout race that you’re targeting?
My calendar is filling up quickly which I am so pumped about. Crankworx will be my main focus, but lots of local, national and global races will be on my calendar!

What are your goals?
My biggest goal would be to win the downhill overall at crankworx, I have to miss one downhill race but it’s still a goal of mine. Plus to stand on as many podiums as I can this year!!!

If you had one piece of advice for young riders looking to race what would it be?
I’d say just be you always, don’t try fit in to the mould and create your own! Always have fun in everything you do. That’s the most important thing in my eyes!
