Scrubs for show or scrubs for dough? Whether you want to go fast or just look cool the scrub is a staple for downhill riding in the Whistler bike park, so I thought I would take you guys through how I do each different kind of scrub on my favorite trail in the bike park. Hopefully, this helps!

Also I would like to add without tire slide up the lip it could be called a euro table. Which almost never looks good except when it does.

I know where you stand on this topic, I recall your post about it some years back. However...to Finn's credit, he does call out that one style is just a turned-down whip. The second form is actually a scrub, wherein the execution has to do with coming in hot, compressing the bike, and carving off the lip as to stay lower over a jump. A throttle is not required, it is just a hell of a lot cooler.
I would draw the same comparison to whips. Yeah, mountain bikers whip but nothing like a moto.

I am a huge Finn Iles fan, and I think he's half right. One style is just a turned-down whip. Where we disagree is that the other style is just a turned-down whip, but lower.

So is your argument that it’s not possible to scrub on an mtb and that we should call it something else? Or that you can scrub an mtb but you have to be sliding on the lip?

Exactly. It's not a scrub if you don't slide off the lip. Scrubs are possible on a mountain bike, but they're ridiculously hard. Eliot Jackson, Aaron Gwin, Ian Morrison, and maybe three other people in the world have done a legit tire-sliding scrub on an MTB, and for those guys it's still kind of a roll of the dice every time- sometimes the tire slides too far and they can't pull it back. I don't see the benefit of watering down the word and losing sight of how enormously hard an actual MTB scrub is. That would be like me doing a turnbar with a dual crown and calling it an "X-up" because it's basically the same thing. Words mean something.
