The 48 year old dad in me wants to yell at these kids when they take over the streets and cause major traffic. The 17 year old in me who grew up in Queens with only a bike - no car, no money - knows where these kids come from. This is so much better than the gang life. My hope is that they can turn it into a positive life experience and that it helps them succeed as adults.

I feel the same at 47. My wife is from Brooklyn, her parents and sister are still there. I see these crews everywhere when I am up there. Insane skills

haha same here. the old crusty dude inside right now would be panicking as a driver, shaking the "get off my lawn" fist out the window. but then i'd slow down and the skateboarder in me would rise up and help me enjoy every single second of the street take-over as they destroy every "wheelie Wednesday" video ever posted.

These kids are rad. Saw a guy wheelie and old GT Zaskar around the whole loop in Prospect Park the other night. That's 3.25 miles. I've been trying to wheelie my whole life and can't make it 3.25 feet.

Very cool. Biking is so much more than just an elitist fitness pursuit. I love how a simple contraption with two (or one if you have the skill!) wheels can elevate the human psyche. While many of us are worrying about our seat tube angles, what our bike is made out of, and how good our bike will look on the back of our truck, these bikers are developing real riding skills and building something that will affect peoples' lives for the better. Props to these riders, their efforts to create positivity in their community, and their insane skill.

So Dope. I'd love to see some of those riders show up at one of the traditional European bicycle stunt competitions.
