Lucas Cowan - Locals Ep. 9

Episode 9 baby! We are pumped to show off another loose-dog from the SoCal crew. Although he currently resides in Flagstaff, AZ for school, Lucas Cowan is San Diego born and raised. He's such a rad guy to ride with, always yelling and sliding all over the place. We lucked out with some rain and got some prime dirt for Lucas to rip up on one of his local flow trails.

It’s hard to find Lucas not having a good time. His rowdy and ridiculous nature has us constantly keeled over laughing. It’s easy to see his upbeat attitude translated onto the bike. His playful riding makes it obvious that he's loving every second of it. Cowan is constantly riding on the fine edge of control. Chasing him down the hill is a wild ride filled with whips, drifts, over-jumps and mach-10 speeds.

June Bug slays it just as hard with a shovel as he does on a bike. He grew up just around the corner from Luca Cometti and the two rascals teamed up to be a force to be reckoned with. We even made a little shredit of them back in the day. At first they just built sketchy backyard hucks, but as their riding skills progresses, so did the building. Lucas’ hard work has made him co-father to some of the raddest DH trails in the San Diego area. When he moved off to college his building skills weren't drunken away. He has given Flagstaff a facelift and revamped some of their gnarliest DH terrain. The DH training grounds there are off-the-charts with steeps, massive rock sections and some killer flow. When he's not on the big bike, he is busy getting sideways on his dirt jumper. Cowan and the boys have spent some serious shovel time developing their own jump compound. Every jump is stacked perfect and picturesque. Gotta respect the builders, without them we wouldn't have close to as much fun on a bike as we do.

As a junior Lucas was a constant podium threat. This coupled with his hysterical presence at the races landed him a ride with his local SoCal company, Intense. He has been racing as a privateer for them for the last 3 years. They identified with his awesome attitude and knew he was perfect fit for the Intense family. Over the years, his shredding has been pushing him higher and higher up at the company. This winter he got the opportunity to shoot the Carbon M16 launch with Kovarik and blew the crew away. Lucas’ talents were rewarded when he was invited to join the Palmer Project for 2016. This opportunity takes massive amounts of pressure off a previously self supported rider and allows him to solely focus on the race. With some solid backing and support, Lucas is looking to kill it at the National rounds this summer.
