I did a race last year in similar ridiculous conditions...it will probably be one of my most memorable races 15 years from now. That's DH racing for you...rise to the challenge and become a better rider as a result.

This is my MTB nightmare--get up the courage to sign up for a race, then the conditions go to complete shit, and I get heckled by a couple of frat boys who are going to post my sad flailing on the internets.

You do essentially become a war hero for completing the race that day. At least your "big fish story" of how nasty it was that day is confirmed by video.
