Kind of epitomises Uk back woods riding. All these lads do. I get the Santa Cruz connection and they’re cool bikes no doubt but I’d love to see these guy aboard something more rootsy and affordable for younger riders who’re riding this kinda stuff on the reg. Although at this point I’m not quite sure what that would be. Expensive game.
Anyways, as always Mr Lewis, a big thumbs up from me.

...you build some trails like this you should probably downsize. Lewis rides a short bike. He's also not winning an EWS or anything.

I keep going back to skiing because I know it well. Most skiers have more than one pair of skis. Most of those skis are different length, width and shape depending on what the skier is doing.

If you want to get all jibby with it, and make corners that are so tight no large frame would even fit through them, then I'd probably say get a bike that is suited for that just like a skier trading in his pow skis for a park ski.

Thing is, I'd wager riding an overly short bike isn't going to be fast for most riders. The balance point is narrow and it'll be a handful at speed.

There is no perfect for everything...

@jeff.brines pretty sure you WAYYYY overthought my brief and sarcasm loaded comment. He's having a blast on a bike and it just reminds me how stupid good fun normal to short wheelbase bikes are.
